Linda Cohn Makes Tear-Jerking Announcement on Tuesday
The cast and crew of Sportscenter has been a mainstay in tens of millions of American households over the past few decades, producing legends of the broadcasting world including Stuart Scott, Linda Cohn, Scott Van Pelt, Dan Patrick and others. Cohn, known for her light-hearted, sweet demeanor and encyclopedic sports knowledge, has been one of the show's most popular and well known anchors for years. The LA Sportscenter is no more. We said goodbye Monday Night," Cohn said on her X page, tagging ESPN's Neil Everett and Stan Verrett in her post. "Best trio since Rush," one fan said in the comments. "Does this mean we get another show of three to four ex professional players yelling at each other?" another asked sarcastically. "Legends," reporter Steve Wyche added underneath the picture with three raised hands emojis. A video of Sportscenter anchors signing off over the course of the show's history was shared on X by ESPN. "One of the best crews in the game will be missed!" a fan said. Advertisement "Sportscenter not gonna be the same without Stan and Neil," another fan added. Another shared a photo of the time he got to sit at the Sportscenter anchor's desk on X after hearing the news. "Love the Sportscenter crew's heartfelt goodbye gesture always," another fan added. "We will miss all of them! Thank you Stan and Neil for keeping me informed ever since I was a young boy in elementary school and now an adult!' ESPN Makes Major Dick Vitale Announcement on Sunday
Legendary college basketball broadcaster Dick Vitale is primed for yet another year with ESPN. The 2025-26 college basketball season marked the final season of Vitale's current contract with the network. But on Sunday night, ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro announced a two-year contract extension for the 85-year-old analyst. Advertisement Pitaro shared the announcement at the 20th annual Dick Vitale Gala on Sunday, according to college basketball insider Dick Weiss. "Here's some good news. Dick Vitale was headed into final year of his contract with ESPN. president Jimmy Pitaro just announced at gala network had added two more years which should take dick to 88," Weiss wrote on X. Vitale battled four different types of cancer over the last few years, but was deemed cancer free after a doctor's appointment on Jan. 8 and cleared to return to his broadcasting duties. Vitale thanked Pitaro by name in his cancer-free announcement earlier this year. Advertisement "I am absolutely ecstatic and I can't believe this is happening after going through five major vocal cord surgeries, 65 radiation treatments and chemotherapy for six months," Vitale said. 'It's been a very tough journey, but all of the prayers and messages from the beautiful fans have inspired me. I can't thank Jimmy Pitaro and all of my ESPN colleagues who I consider my second family enough for the love they showed me through such a tough time. I just hope I can offer the people some basketball insights that can bring even more excitement to the game." The 20th Dick Vitale Gala raised $12.5 million for the V Foundation, bringing the 20-year total to over $100 million for pediatric cancer research.

Tennessee duo Barnes, Mashack honored for character and community service
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — While Tennessee basketball has enjoyed plenty of success on the court this season, head coach Rick Barnes and senior guard Jahmai Mashack have been recognized for their achievements off of it. For the second straight season, Mashack is Tennessee's representative on the SEC Community Service Team for men's basketball. The defensive standout works closely with Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. According to a university release, he has personally provided food to over 3,500 people and helped raise over $1 million for the nonprofit. WATCH: One-on-one interview with Lady Vol basketball assistant coach Gabe Lazo He set up a virtual food drive through Second Harvest in November 2024 and raised $14,700. He helped distribute food from the money raised on Dec. 18, providing over 20,000 pounds of food to nearly 400 households. Following his recent dramatic game-winning shot against Alabama, he started another virtual food drive that has raised nearly $40,000. Mashack and his family also regularly feed members of the homeless community in his native Los Angeles area. He is the sixth player in program history to collect multiple SEC Community Service Team honors. Barnes was named a finalist for the 2024-2025 Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award by honoring those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity on and off it as well. Barnes supports multiple Knoxville-area charitable organizations and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Emerald Youth Foundation. He is a longtime supporter of the V Foundation for Cancer Research, having been honored twice at the V Foundation's Dick Vitale Gala. The winner will be announced in April in San Antonio, Texas, the site of the Final Four. Other finalists include Vanderbilt's Mark Byington and former ETSU head coach Steve Forbes.
