Man, 19, charged after two teen girls ‘raped & sexually assaulted near train station' as witnesses urged to come forward
A 19-YEAR-OLD man has been charged in relation to two alleged sexual assaults perpetrated against teen girls. The incidents took place near a major UK station and police are now urging any witnesses to come forward, ahead of a criminal trial. 1 On Friday 9 May, one unnamed girl was tragically raped and another sexually assaulted near the Digby and Sowton area in Exeter. An investigation was launched, which led police to Sonny Boyes - a 19-year-old who is also from Exeter. Subsequently, he was charged with two offences of rape and three offences of assault by penetration relating to the two victims. Mr Boyes will face a trial at Exeter Magistrates Court on May 12. Ahead of the trial, Detective Inspector Emma Lefort from Exeter CID said: 'The victims continue to be supported by our specialist officers at this time. 'We continue to investigate the incidents and want to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Digby and Sowton railway station, or on a train passing through, between 8.45pm and 10pm on Friday 9 May. Arrest after rape and sexual assault in Exeter
A man has been arrested after a 16-year-old girl was raped and a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Exeter on Friday 19-year-old man, from Exeter, was arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault and remains in police custody, Devon and Cornwall Police incidents happened in the area of Digby and Sowton train station between 20:45 and 22:00 BST, the force Ch Insp Dave Pebworth said officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incidents. Police said the 16-year-old girl was raped at about 21:00 on Clyst Halt half an hour later, the 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on the train platform, and further assaulted while on a train travelling to Exeter St David' Ch Insp Pebworth said: "We believe that there were lots of people in the area of Digby and Sowton last night and we are urging anyone with information which may assist us to please get in touch."A number of scene guards will be in place today as we continue our investigation and there is an increased high visibility presence."
