Ektaa Kapoor lauded the potential of the state as a cinematic-rich landscape in cultural and visual appeal.
Renowned producer Ekta Kapoor officially launched the Madhya Pradesh Film Tourism Policy 2025 during the WAVES Summit 2025 in Mumbai. The program titled Digital Dreams & Cinematic Visions: Madhya Pradesh as the Next Creative Hub demonstrates the state's growing role in becoming a leading destination for creative industries and film production.
Addressing the mass audience at the summit, the Emmy Award-winning producer hailed the potential of Madhya Pradesh as a cinematic rich landscape in cultural and visual appeal. She spoke about the practical needs of filmmakers—rebates, scenic diversity, streamlined permissions, and efficient logistics—while praising Madhya Pradesh for delivering on all fronts.
'From what we could see, Madhya Pradesh has the visuals, the heritage, and the legacy — sorted," she said, emphasising the natural advantages of the state for filmmakers.
In the same conversation, Kapoor also pointed out the importance of financial incentives to fully unlock this potential. 'They have just launched a great policy. What they would need now is some kind of financial ease for the makers so they can support large-scale productions. This will not only boost the state's economy but also make it easier for filmmakers to shoot there," she added.
The producer further stressed that even the most visually appealing locations may lose out to global competitors without such facilitation.
Drawing attention to Spain's current dominance as a preferred filming location, Kapoor highlighted, 'Spain has taken over most of the shooting — due to the ease to work and the rebates offered. So, these would be the two things— a one-stop-shop policy and, of course, financial help in the form of a rebate."
During the summit, Ektaa Kapoor also showed support for the new policy by making a strong promise. She announced, 'We promise Madhya Pradesh that out of the 8-10 films we are planning and about 18-19 shows we are planning, we will be shooting one to starf before the end of twelve months in Madhya Pradesh. We are going to do that."
Beyond the celebrated stars of India, WAVES 2025 also saw global leaders from the entertainment world. High-profile dignitaries like Ted Sarandos (Co-CEO of Netflix), Adam Mosseri (Head of Instagram) and Neal Mohan (CEO of YouTube) graced the event and made it memorable.
