The Rev Canon Gordon Reid, 82: Kind and inclusive vicar general in Europe with a gift for languages
From initiating 'Thank God it's Friday' services in the City of London to taking his ministry out into the streets of Philadelphia, the Rev Gordon Reid was known wherever he served as welcoming and hospitable in his attempt to make faith accessible to all. Inclusion was key to his outlook and he supported the remarriage of divorcees and the ordination of women and openly gay priests and bishops.
After the completion of his post as provost of Inverness Cathedral in the 1980s his work took him around the world. In the Diocese in Europe he served in Ankara, Izmir, Stockholm, as dean in Gibraltar and as archdeacon of Italy in Milan.
He then moved to Philadelphia, where in 2004 he took up an appointment as
