You're about to see reverse eyeliner everywhere – here's how to do it like Dior
The AW25 runways have served some, ahem, interesting looks so far. Citrine eyeshadow at Tom Ford, anyone? It's ok; there has been some wearable loveliness, too. Take the lightly lacquered lips at Balmain and the fuzzy matte skin at Acne Studios – both gorgeous. There was one look though, crafted by Dior Makeup's Image and Creative lead, Peter Philips, that we're expecting to take off. The look in question? The reverse eyeliner.
To create it, Philips has used a kohl pencil (the Diorshow On Stage Crayon in Black, £26 – a soft kajal that stays put) in the inner corners of the eyes, tracing the outline around the tearducts. If you can't picture it just yet, imagine the maths inequality symbols ('>' and '
Philips describes it as 'strong but discreet'. 'It's a subtle look,' he says, 'but the single strong accent just completes a pure, luminous complexion.'
If you're worried black might look too dramatic, you can always soften it with brown, burgundy or navy. Keeping the kohl freshly sharpened for each eye is key here for maximum precision. Don't worry about the pencil sharpness being harsh and scratchy on the area; Dior's kohl is soft enough to glide gently while also staying put. Have a micellar water and cotton bud handy to tidy up any mistakes and emphasise the sharpest point of the line.
So simple, so pretty. Here's to a runway look we can actually get behind.£26.00 at at
