Mizoram CM
Lalduhoma convened an emergency meeting at the CM Conference Hall Sunday afternoon to address the widespread disasters caused by the intensifying monsoon rains across Mizoram.
Besides key ministers and top officials, all district deputy commissioners joined the meeting virtually.
During the meeting, the CM expressed gratitude to rescue teams and volunteers, who have been tirelessly assisting stranded travellers and providing essential food and shelter. He urged everyone to uphold the Mizo code of ethics, 'Zo Nun Ze Mawi,' or 'Tlawmngaihna' by continuing to support those in need.
Officials stressed that restoring connectivity to district headquarters and airport roads should remain a top priority. The Disaster Management & Rehabilitation (DM&R) department was directed to promptly release necessary funds, ensure the speedy disbursement of relief funds, and maintain regular follow-ups at disaster-hit sites. They were also instructed to submit timely reports on various hardships to the central govt.
Highlighting that many disasters are human-induced, the CM called for stricter measures and the need for more trained personnel in rescue operations.
