EAIC finds some JPJ officers failed to declare disposed assets, recommends disciplinary action

PUTRAJAYA, May 30 — An investigation by the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) found that there are Road Transport Department (JPJ) officers who failed to update and declare the disposal of assets in the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS). In a statement today, EAIC said the investigation was conducted under section 27(4) of the EAIC Act 2009 [Act 700] following a complaint against the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Road Transport Department (JPJ KL) involving several vehicle registration numbers. 'Following the investigation, it was found that several vehicles in the names of JPJ KL officers have not yet been declared obsolete through the HRMIS system, even though the vehicles have not been in their possession for a long time. 'This violates regulation 10(2) of the Public Servants (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993 (P.U. (A) 395/1993),' it said. In this regard, EAIC decided to refer the results of the investigation to the JPJ Disciplinary Board with the recommendation that a warning letter be issued to the JPJ officers involved. — Bernama

PKR Not Facing Vote-buying Threat, Says Saifuddin

GEORGE TOWN, May 17 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has dismissed claims that Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is grappling with vote-buying practices ahead of its 2025–2028 party elections. Saifuddin, who previously served as PKR secretary-general, said the party's Disciplinary Board has not received any formal complaints related to money politics. 'I don't believe the party has reached a point where money is being handed out in exchange for support. Vote-buying, in the sense of giving cash to gain backing, is not happening in PKR,' he told reporters after officiating the 235th Prison Day celebration at Padang Kota Lama here today. bootstrap slideshow 'However, using money to fund event logistics — such as meals, tent rentals, or hotel bookings — does take place, and that is a separate matter,' he added. The event was officiated by Penang Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib. Saifuddin, who is also Home Minister, said PKR now has better logistical capabilities and financial resources compared to its early years when events, including party congresses, were held in food stalls, homes and school halls due to limited funds. bootstrap slideshow However, he cautioned against excessive spending that may come across as extravagant, noting that the public is sensitive to displays of luxury. He urged party members to report any instances of vote-buying to the Disciplinary Board if they have evidence. 'This party wasn't built on financial strength. It was founded on ideals that resonated with the people. The party's rules are very clear about what is and isn't allowed,' he said. His remarks come in response to recent comments by PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, who acknowledged the party faces potential risks of vote-buying, describing it as one of the hardest forms of corruption to prove.

Halt personal attacks, baseless claims, PKR candidates told

Delegates to PKR's national congress, which will be held in Johor Bahru, will cast their votes on May 23. PETALING JAYA : PKR's disciplinary board has warned candidates against making open personal attacks and baseless claims against one another in campaigning for the central leadership elections. The board's chairman, Tan Yee Kew, said every PKR member reflected the party's image and that public trust could only be won through ethical and honourable behaviour as well as transparency. She urged candidates to preserve the party's integrity, image and unity throughout the election period, reminding them that there were guidelines they were required to adhere to. Tan urged them to stop all forms of attacks against party members as well as the spread of baseless allegations. 'Focus your campaign on policies and ideas. Personal attacks, open quarrels and public statements that insult party members are unnecessary, unacceptable, and can threaten the party's unity. 'Any accusation made against other parties must be supported by solid evidence. Making baseless accusations is an offence under the code of ethics for PKR members,' she said in a statement. The former Wangsa Maju MP also said the disciplinary board has zero tolerance for money politics, whether in the form of bribes, gifts or any kind of kickback in the party polls. She said that those who commit such offences would face immediate disciplinary action. She also said criticism on the campaign trail should be based on policies and ideas, not the personal character of candidates. 'The use of discriminative language, character assassination or rhetoric that provokes anger will tarnish the party's reputation and is an offence under the code of ethics,' she said. Tan said the board would be keeping an eye on the behaviour of candidates as well as their supporters, with stern action, including sacking, to be taken against those who breached the PKR code of ethics. All eyes are on the race for the PKR deputy presidency, which involves a straight fight between incumbent Rafizi Ramli and Nurul Izzah Anwar, the daughter of party president Anwar Ibrahim. There are also 12 contestants vying for the four vice-president's posts, including the four incumbents – federal ministers Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and Chang Lih Kang as well as menteris besar Amirudin Shari and Aminuddin Harun. Several candidates have traded barbs following the nominations, with Rafizi particularly coming under fire from various division leaders as they urged Nurul Izzah to challenge him for the deputy presidency. Rafizi had also taken digs at several figures, including PKR election committee chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa over her handling of the party's divisional elections. Delegates to PKR's national congress, which will be held in Johor Bahru, will cast their votes on May 23.

Attorney implicated in DWI scheme not arguing against license suspension

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The second attorney implicated in the DWI scheme will not argue against the suspension of his law license next week. The New Mexico Supreme Court issued an order Friday stating Rudolph 'Rudy' Chavez's law license will remain suspended until further order of the court. The 44-year-old Albuquerque attorney requested the court cancel next week's hearing, where he could have argued against the suspension. Last month, the state's Disciplinary Board moved to revoke Chavez's law license, naming him as a co-conspirator in the DWI scheme where officers worked with attorneys to get DWI cases dismissed in exchange for cash. Chavez has not been criminally charged and has denied involvement in the scheme. However, he can no longer practice law, and his website has been taken down. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
