Discovery Center is ready for Summer
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A rainy start to summer vacation has many families looking for indoor options for summer fun with their kids. One local option in downtown Springfield is the Discovery Center. The part science center, part children's museum offers hands-on educational experiences while still being fun for kids. Discovery Center CEO Tyler Moles says they anticipate seeing more kids on rainy days. 'Parents love to bring their kids here on rainy days, and we love to have them,' Moles said. 'So we try to do extra special stuff on rainy days to make it super cool for the kids, but we anticipate rain that brings more people in. When it gets really hot, that brings a lot of parents and kids in when it's just too hot to be outside. So summertime is the time.' Farmers talk about short and long term impacts of rain, flooding The Discovery Center recently introduced a new salamander exhibit, and this summer, they'll see the return of their 'Summer of Science,' a fun and educational camp program with multiple topics to choose from. Moles says there are still some openings for registration. Moles says the goal is to provide a fun and educational experience for kids and their families. 'Be ready to explore, be ready to interact with your kids,' Moles said. 'We have a lot of activities here that are designed for the parents to interact with their kids, and I think they appreciate it. And it's always good for kids to do interactive things with their parents.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
