In the world of entertainment, some actors win hearts every time they portray a different role whereas others manage to make a permanent place in hearts with just one iconic character. Disha Vakani falls in the second category. The actor played the role of Daya Jethalal Gada aka Dayaben in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, one of the longest running shows on Indian TV, for over a decade. When she left the show, it broke hearts. But till date, Daya continues to be one of the most iconic characters that we have ever witnessed in an Indian sitcom. So when an old music video of Disha in a bikini top surfaced online, TMKOC fans were obviously shook. In this viral music video reportedly titled Bhingri Ga Bhingri that Disha did in the beginning of her acting career, our beloved Dayaben and a group of girls can be seen dancing with boys. But the twist arrives in the end when the boys take off their t-shirts, and Disha and her friends replicate the action with their bikini tops. In the comment section below, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fans are now going gaga, sharing hilarious GIFs of Daya's onscreen husband Jethalal and her father-in-law Champaklal Jayantilal Gada. Apart from these funny GIFs are comments which will leave you in splits. For instance, one comment read, 'Yhi se garba ki shuruaat hui 😂,' whereas another wrote, 'Jbhi jethalal kbhi ahmdabad jaane nahi deta😂.' Another netizen stated, 'Iske baad to.. TMKOC Fans Shocked As 'Deyaben' Disha Vakani Dances In Bikini In Viral Video

In the clip, the actress can be seen in a totally different avatar. She ditches her traditional saree look and is seen grooving in a shiny silver bikini top with matching short skirt. She opts for silver eye makeup and a ponytail and looks completely different. Just a few months ago, Asit Modi exclusively confirmed to News18 Showsha that Disha would not be returning to the popular sitcom. 'It is difficult for her now (to return to the show). For women, life changes after marriage. Working with small children and managing the house is really a bit difficult for them. But I am still positive. I feel somewhere that god will do a miracle and she will return. If she comes, then it will be a good thing. Recently, a video from Dilip Joshi aka Jethalal and Disha Vakani aka Dayaben 's appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Amitabh Bachchan went viral on social media. In the video, Dilip Joshi and Disha Vakani are seen taking the hot seat for a game of KBC. They are dressed as Jethalal and Dayaben. In a moment that had both the audience and Amitabh Bachchan laughing their lungs out when Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah star Dilip Joshi, fondly known as Jethalal, once hilariously confused his on-screen wife with his real-life one during an appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati. TMKOC creator Asit Kumar Modi recalls Disha Vakani's first audition for Dayaben's role: ‘When she played the part, we all just loved it'
Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been successfully running for 17 years. However, the show's lead actress, Disha Vakani aka Dayaben, quit the show five years ago. Disha had taken maternity leave from the show in 2018, after which the actress never returned. In 2020, she had just made a brief appearance on the show, and that marked the last time Dayaben's character appeared on TMKOC. Now, in an exclusive conversation with SCREEN, Asit Modi recalled Disha Vakani's first audition as Dayaben. He said, 'Disha Vakani is a very fine actor. So when we explained the character to her, our brief was that she is a very innocent lady who looks after her husband, her father-in-law, and her world revolves around her son. Whenever she gets shocked, her reaction is always 'Hey Ma, Mataji!', it's a very common reaction amongst people in Gujarat. During her audition, we were all sitting together, and when she played the part, we all just loved it. The reference to Dayaben calling Jethalal from the balcony comes from my mother. Whenever my father would go to work, he would forget something, and my mother would run behind him, calling him. We bought that innocence in her character; she doing garba was added later.' That's how the craze for doing garba started. Daya Bhabhi's style of garba was her improvisation. While shooting, we all try to take what is written in the script to the next level.' He also spoke about other actors and said, 'Initially, all the characters used to have lots of workshops because I wanted it to look like a real society. All the artistes were new, Dilip Joshi had some theater experience, and he has been very popular in Gujarati dramas. Due to the theater, he had good knowledge about improvisations. All others were quite new and had not done a show for such a long time, so during the casting, one criterion I had in mind was that they all needed to have that innocence.' Talking about Dayaben's return on the show, Asit Modi assured that the character will be back soon. He in the process of finalizing the new Dayaben, however, he expressed his wish for Disha Vakani only to return to play the iconic character.
