Ottawa police say a woman was pulled from the water in the Rideau Canal early Sunday morning.
In a news release, the Ottawa Police Service says a 41-year-old woman in crisis jumped into the water between Bronson Avenue and Bank Street just after 6 a.m.
Once in the water, the woman held onto a ledge and screamed for help, police say.
A cyclist who saw her in the water held her hand and called 911.
'Nightshift Patrol Officers arrived on scene within five minutes, pulled the female from the water and carried her up to an area that could be reached by paramedics,' police say.
The woman was treated for mild exposure and was taken to hospital for treatment.
