Anti-diarrhoea campaign begins in Hyderabad
With the onset of monsoon season, the administration has launched a district-wide campaign to prevent and manage diarrhoea cases, with special focus on vulnerable areas of the district.
Hyderabad District Collector Hari Chandana Dasari, presiding over a review meeting of the District Task Force Committee on Monday, directed officials from the Health Department, along with allied departments, to ensure preparedness and coordination under the 'Stop Diarrhoea Campaign – 2025'.
The Collector highlighted that no child death due to diarrhoea should occur in the district and called for action to reduce the under-five mortality rate in line with the goals of the National Health Policy.
She also instructed medical officials to prioritise areas that reported a higher incidence of diarrhoea in the previous year. 'All government hospitals must stock both diarrhoea medicines and ORS sachets. Further, ORS sachets and zinc tablets supplied by the Health Department must be made available at every Anganwadi centre, school, and hostel,' she said.
The Collector also directed the GHMC to ensure environmental sanitation, tank cleaning, regular water testing, and disinfection, while the HMWSSB has been tasked with ensuring the supply of clean drinking water.
