Pandelela clears injury hurdle ahead of World trials
KUALA LUMPUR: Pandelela Rinong is expected to recover in time for next month's national diving trials, easing fears she might miss out. The two-time Olympic medallist suffered a tricep muscle strain during warm-up at the Diving World Cup in Windsor, Canada, two weeks ago, sparking concerns over her availability. But Malaysia Aquatics technical director Yeoh Ken Nee has confirmed the injury is not serious. "It's not really an injury, just a muscle strain," said Ken Nee. "She's been undergoing rehab and has rejoined the national team. We expect her to resume full training this week. "There's a strong possibility that she'll compete in the trials." The national trials will be held at the National Aquatics Centre in Bukit Jalil on May 9-11 and will decide the national squad for the World Championships in Singapore (July 11-Aug 3) and the Thailand Sea Games (Dec 7-19).
