Listry dig out extra-time win over Glenflesk in East Kerry minor league division 2 final

Listry 2-21 Glenflesk 1-19 After a thrilling 70 minutes of football, Listry climbed the victory in the East Kerry Minor League Division 2 final with a strong first period of extra-time crucial to the win. After Listry saw an early goal by Tom O'Dowd ruled out for a square ball, Glenflesk got the opening goal of the game with a terrific finish from captain John O'Sullivan. Listry fought back well from this setback, with a run of seven points in a row, with James Clifford and Killian Fitzgerald doing the damage, with a two-pointer from Clifford the pick of the scores. Two late James Kelly points kept Glenflesk within two points at the break, despite being well outplayed. Glenflesk started the second half well, with points from John O'Sullivan and Dylan Bowler. Clifford then goaled for Listry, with Sean Clifford providing the assist. Back came Glenflesk with four more points, with Bowler getting the last as they went ahead again. Listry again responded well, and a Ryan Carey score put them two points up as injury time approached. Glenflesk created one more opportunity. James Kelly was the one to take on the shot, firing over with his left foot from behind the arc to send the game to extra-time. After having victory stolen away from them, Listry got on with the business of winning the game again. Killian O'Donoghue's early goal was followed by a pair of '45's from Fitzgerald. Listry had earned a nine-point lead by half time. Despite Glenflesk's brave efforts to come back, which included another Kelly two-pointer, Listry had done enough to secure the win. Elsewhere in the Division 3A final, four goals for Firies proved crucial in their 4-14 to 0-13 win over Beaufort. In the Division 3B final in Currow the home side beat Gneevegulla by 3-14 to 2-13 where two late goals helped Currow to a four-point win.

Roche nets late winner against Adamstown to keep Bree United on track for Division 3 crown

Bree United are just one win away from the Division 3 crown after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Adamstown in Macmine on Friday evening. Dylan Dalton broke the deadlock to put the hosts ahead in the 57th minute, but Adamstown replied through Tarek Huawei just six minutes later. However, ace marksman Noel Roche popped with his 15th league goal of the season in the 86th minute to keep his side on track for the title, with just one game, against fellow high-flyers Shamrock Rovers, remaining. Neither Oylegate United nor Shamrock Rovers will be particularly happy after playing out a scoreless stalemate on Wednesday evening as they handed the initiative to fellow title-challengers Bree. Shamrock Rovers had no problem hitting the net on Sunday as they ran out emphatic 8-0 winners against Duncannon in Ryan's Park. Kyle Foley, Stephen Wallace, Miley Fortune, Anthony Murphy (two), Dillon Shannon, John Murphy and Floyd Murphy got the goals for the Enniscorthy outfit. New Ross Town finished their campaign with a 3-0 win over Wexford Celtic at St. Mary's Secondary School on Wednesday evening. Conor Rossiter, John Browne and Ryan Dempsey got their goals. Gorey Celtic won by the same scoreline away to Killenagh Wanderers, with Lee Byrne (two) and James McGraynor hitting the back of the net. Celtic picked up another win on the road on Sunday, coming out on top 4-1 against Bunclody at Church Road. Luke Kavanagh and Luke Darley both scored twice for the visitors, while Jerry Connors netted a late consolation goal. Division 3A Rosslare Strand moved to the top of the Division 3A table with a 7-1 win over Taghmon United in Horetown on Thursday evening. Danny O'Reilly was the star man, scoring five times for the visitors, while Pierce Dooley and Tyrone O'Reilly added to their tally. Darren Hayden netted for Taghmon. Gorey Rangers are level with Ferns United in third spot, following a 1-0 win over Glynn Barntown. An early Conor McDermott goal proved to be the difference between the sides. Connor Larkin-Cooney, Aaron Larkin, Reis Gasson (two) and Darryl O'Rourke got the goals for Enniscorthy United as they comfortably saw off bottom side Fethard Rangers 5-0 in Neil O'Sullivan Park. Division 4 St. Cormac's hold a two-point advantage ahead of Forth Celtic at the summit of Division 4 following a 4-2 win over The Ballagh United at Mount Daniel on Sunday. The visitors had a three-goal lead at the break, thanks to a Jamie Dempsey-Doyle double and a Cormac Finn strike. Stephen Lacey made it 4-0 with 20 minutes remaining and, although Daniel O'Regan and Tommy Storey pulled back late goals for The Ballagh, the result wasn't in doubt. Forth Celtic kept themselves in the race with a hard-fought 4-3 win over third-placed Courtown Hibs in Matt Ennis Park. Roy Nunn put the Murrintown men ahead in the 13th minute, but Shane Grannell and Leon Tyndall-Stafford replied to give Hibs a 2-1 advantage at the break. The hosts took control after the interval and goals from Keith Murphy, Conor Mullan and Anthony Hayes gave them a 4-2 advantage. Anthony Cronin-Shaughnessy pulled one back for the visitors in the 89th minute. A thrilling finale is in store as Forth Celtic welcome St. Cormac's to Matt Ennis Park for their final game of the season. New Ross Celtic proved too strong for Carne FC in Butlersland, winning 6-1 to end the visitors' brave fight to avoid the drop. Aaron Kinsella netted a first-half hat-trick for the hosts, while Seán Lennon contributed a double and Anthony Feeney chipped in with a goal. Conor Gilbert replied for Carne. Kiltealy Celtic finished the campaign on a high with a 5-1 success against Cushinstown. Kevin Roberts put Cushinstown ahead in the twelfth minute, but that was as good as it got for the visitors, with Fran Buckley, Ben Nugent, Fergal Buckley (two) and Eddie Buckley scoring for Kiltealy. Dylan Lennon bagged both goals for Shelburne United as they beat Cushinstown 2-1 at Terrerath Community Centre on Thursday. Shane Brazil scored for the hosts. Division 4A Division 4A runners-up Wexford Bohemians finished their league campaign with a 4-1 win over Rosbercon United in 'The Brute' Walsh Park on Thursday evening. Lar Feeney gave the visitors an early lead, but it proved to be a false dawn as Adam Roche, Jamie McMahon (two) and Sam O'Neill replied for Bohs. Bridge Rovers and Caim United shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw in the Bogside. Mikie Lacey put the hosts ahead in the tenth minute, but Jamie Blackburn equalised 15 minutes later. Dillon Nolan bagged a hat-trick for Caim as they chalked up a 5-2 away win over Rosbercon United on Sunday. David Franklin added a brace for the winners, while Jamie St. Ledger and Dan Connors scored for the home side.

Desert Christian Academy overcomes scoreless third quarter to beat Coachella Valley

Thursday's stat book will forever show what looks like an error. It will show that Desert Christian Academy scored zero points in the third quarter, but it was no error. Still, the Conquerors were able to overcome a stretch that nearly led to the end of their season by rallying to a 55-42 win over Coachella Valley High School in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3A playoffs. The Conquerors trailed by five points entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Arabs 23-5 in the final quarter with the home crowd of more than 700 rocking the tiny gym at Desert Christian Academy. Senior guard Maddie Reedman scored nine fourth quarter points and senior forwards Hannah Shaver and Shekinah Brattrud each added five to help Desert Christian Academy rally. 'We have a resilient group,' Conquerors head coach Zach Devane said. 'We just stuck with our game plan, switched to the 2-3 zone and stuck to the process on offense.' Desert Christian Academy (21-8) has now won 13 consecutive games, going back to Jan. 6, and will play at El Toro on Saturday. Coachella Valley (17-7) finished its regular season second in the Desert Valley League. The Conquerors overcame a big scoring night by Coachella Valley's Mariah Figueroa, who scored 26 of her game-high 34 points in the first half. Desert Christian Academy's aggressive zone held Figueroa to 4-of-20 shooting in the second half. With 3:54 remaining, Brattrud, a senior guard, drained a 3 when teammate Damaris Figueroa, a junior, selflessly swatted the ball out to her on a rebound to give Desert Christian Academy its first lead in more than 11 minutes. The Conquerors' student section shot up with a roar and the team rode the energy of the crowd the rest of the way. Desert Christian Academy outscored Coachella Valley 11-0 the rest of the way. 'There was a lot of energy here tonight,' Reedman said. 'It helped us really step it up when it mattered.' Reedman led the Conquerors with 17 points, and she added a pair of rebounds and an assist and a steal. Shaver scored just five points but came up big with 18 rebounds and five assists. 'It won't show up on the score sheet,' Devane said, 'but Hannah was battling all night to create for her teammates. Our girls got open shots because of the attention she had on her.' Figueroa scored 14 points and collected five rebounds and a pair of assists. Brattrud ended the night with 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
