Trumbull County Players of the Year announced
HOWLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Warren JFK senior Nick Ryan and Mineral Ridge senior Ava Hulett were named the 2025 Trumbull County Players of the Year on Monday night. The annual Trumbull County Player of the Year banquet was held at Leo's Ristorante in Howland. Senior boys and girls nominees from schools throughout Trumbull County gathered to celebrate their achievements from this past season. JFK's Ryan averaged a double-double, 26.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game last season. Throughout his high school career, he played in 92 games and averaged 19.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. Ryan led the Eagles to the Regional Championship game in the Division VII state tournament. The Eagles star also became the school's all-time leading scorer in early March in the Division VII District Title win. In 2024, Ryan earned a spot on WKBN's Starting 5, as one of the top basketball players in the Valley. Ridge's Hulett also averaged a double-double, 18.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game this past season. Over her varsity career, Hulett has played 70 games and averaged 16.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game. ‘No greater feeling': JFK star breaks all-time scoring record
SMITHVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) – Warren JFK senior Nick Ryan became the school's all-time leading scorer during the Eagles Division VII District Title win over Bristol on Saturday. Ryan now holds the record for most points in both the boys' and girls' programs, surpassing 1,882 career points to pass former JFK great Caityln Condoleon. The Eagles star finished with 20 points during the team's 72-47 win over Bristol to claim the second straight district title.
