Novak Djokovic's French Open run this 2025 is officially over.
The Serbian tennis great, who continues to defy father time with his elite play on the court, lost to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in their showdown at Court Philippe Chatrier on Friday, 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(3).

While Sinner won in straight sets to keep his immaculate record in this year's competition intact, it wasn't an easy victory at all for the Italian. Novak Djokovic came close to handing the top seed his first set loss in the tournament when he went up 5-4 in the third set and reached set point three times.
Following the defeat, the 38-year-old legend was naturally emotional. He admitted that it "could have been the last match" he played at Roland-Garros, hinting at a potential retirement even though nothing is certain yet.
Djoker also showed his appreciation for the French Open crowd, noting that the kind of support he received in the competition was "incredible."
"Not the happiest because of the loss, but I tried to show my gratitude to the crowd because they were terrific in the moments when it seemed like it was going all his way," the World No. 5 said of the crowd.

"They would lift me up, they would encourage me and give me strength to keep going and fight to the last ball."
After the official Roland-Garros Instagram account shared a video of Novak Djokovic's message following the game, his wife took to the comment section to share her love for her husband and cheer him on.
Jelena Djokovic wrote, "So proud of you my love."
It's worth noting that the mother of two was in attendance at the French Open to show her support for the 24-time Grand Slam winner. She was joined by their kids, Stefan Djokovic and Tara Djokovic.
