The 28-year-old southpaw, boxing for the first time since linking up with Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions, was in impressive form boxing on the undercard of the Fabio Wardley-Justis Huni bout at Portman Road, on Saturday night. Advertisement Richardson beat Estonian boxer Dmitri Protkunas, registering a 60-54 points victory through six rounds in front of plenty of his supporters who had made the short journey to Ipswich Town FC. The former Thomas Lord Audley School pupil, debuting at 160lbs, was in impressive form throughout and a comfortable winner. It was Richardson's first appearance in the ring since winning bronze at last summer's Paris Olympics. Writing on social media after his victory, Richardson said: 'The reception received last night was special, the start of an exciting next chapter in my career. 'Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, I appreciate you all! Advertisement 'The positive energy throughout fight week really lifts us as fighters, and my support has been exceptional. Colchester boxer Lewis Richardson says he's glad he soaked up every moment of his professional debut win at Portman Road tonight. In front of a vocal crowd of more than 20,000, the 28-year-old Olympic bronze medalist cruised to a six-round middleweight victory over Estonian Dmitri Protkunas. Advertisement "Without looking back at it, I'm happy with the performance and happy with the occasion," he said. "I just wanted to be as present as possible this evening. You only get one professional debut, so I really wanted to soak it all up and enjoy it. "I think you heard the crowd. It was fantastic noise. Hopefully they've seen that there's more to come from me." He continued: "I took my time building a real solid, strong but small team around me and I'm really happy with the people I've got in my corner. "'ll speak to my them now about what's next. I'm fit and I'm healthy, didn't take too much punishment this evening, so we'll go from here."
