Highway 38 closed after pickup truck collides with semi
Feb. 27—MITCHELL — A car crash on Highway 38 Thursday afternoon resulted in the closure of the highway and minor injuries for both drivers.
According to the Davison County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred at 3:06 p.m. when a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck stopped at a stop sign on First Avenue pulled out onto Highway 38 in front of a westbound semi hauling corn. The semi, driven by a 23-year-old male from Alexandria, struck the car trailer being towed by the pickup.
The impact caused the semi to veer off the road and into a nearby ditch, while one of the vehicles on the car trailer fell off as a result of the collision.
The 25-year-old driver of the pickup, Dmytro Isaikov of Washington, was cited for failing to yield after the stop sign. Both drivers were treated for minor injuries at the scene and did not require further medical attention.
Traffic on Highway 38 was diverted for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and assess the damage.
