Beaver Dam woman killed, two teen passengers hurt in Dodge County head-on collision
ELBA - A 22-year-old Beaver Dam woman died in a head-on collision roughly a minute after her vehicle was spotted driving in the wrong direction on U.S. Highway 151 near state Highway 73.
The Dodge County Sheriff's Department said her vehicle, a 2005 Toyota RAV4, was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 151 in the northbound lanes shortly after 11 p.m. April 18 in the town of Elba just west of Columbus. It collided with a 2019 Toyota Corolla in the northbound lane, then rolled several times.
The woman died at the scene, and two of her passengers, both 17-year-old girls, suffered serious injuries and were transported to hospitals in Columbus and Madison, authorities said. An occupant in the other vehicle had less serious injuries.
Preliminary information on the crash did not include the suspected cause. No additional information was available as of noon, April 19.
According to traffic reports, the accident resulted in traffic backups, with up to two-hour delays, on Highway 151 at Highways 16 and 60, and Interstate 39/90. The area was cleared at about 2:30 a.m. April 19.
