Dodge Demon Smokes California Police

Read the full story on The Auto Wire California Highway Patrol chased a Dodge Demon on the 91 Freeway in Downtown Los Angeles on the night of March 3, but couldn't keep up with the muscle car. Reportedly, the vehicle was stolen and that's why police were in taken by Key News Network shows the chase briefly. The gray Mopar seems to black out during the shot, turning its lights off in an effort to make it hard for cops to spot it. Sometimes that move works, but usually only when an area is poorly lit and the car is dark. The chase left the freeway and went onto surface streets in the downtown area of Los Angeles. With parking garages and other structures to hide in, many suspects running from police in the area like to disappear there. Police told Key News Network they believe this person is a repeat offender, having run from police several times before. They might just think it's fun to smoke cops or they like to street race and then have to run away – we obviously don't know. We also can't tell in the brief shot if the back of the Mopar muscle car has a license plate and if it's obscured from view. If the plate is visible, plate readers can alert police to the vehicle's presence, which would then trigger a pursuit. Most police cruisers would be hard pressed to keep up with a Dodge Demon. With oodles of power and a drivetrain that's built specifically for straight line speed, they are in essence a drag racer that's street legal. Police cars obviously are in a whole different class. In fact, they struggle to keep up with Hellcats, and a Demon is at a higher level of performance. 1972 Dodge Demon Restomod: A Classic Reborn with Hellcat Muscle

⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious A 1972 Dodge Demon has roared back to life with a contemporary twist, thanks to the craftsmanship of Jeremy Bumpus at the Hot Rod Shop in Corinth, Mississippi. Completed in October 2024, this one-year project transforms the classic muscle car into a modern powerhouse, equipped with a formidable 426 CI Hellcat V-8 engine from the renowned Hemi engine specialist, Ray Barton. The car, originally known for its agility and speed during its brief production run in 1971-1972, now boasts an impressive suite of upgrades. The Hellcat engine is enhanced with a custom-ground Comp cam, Thitek ported heads, and a robust Metco and ATI Racing pulley system. The engine's formidable power is managed through a Southern Hotrod War Viking Max 8-speed automatic transmission, featuring a ProTorque converter with a 3600 RPM stall. Handling is significantly improved with an AlterKtion coilover system paired with RideTech adjustable shocks, and a Lynx rear suspension ensures that the added power is delivered smoothly to the road. The exterior remains true to the Demon's heritage with its 1972-era twin-snorkel scoop and 340 emblems, subtly hinting at the beast within. The body is painted in a deep blue with black graphics, accented by a Go-Wing rear spoiler and dual chrome mirrors, complemented by modern Triumph forged three-piece wheels and low-profile Bridgestone radial tires. The interior doesn't shy away from its retro roots either, featuring four low-back TMI seats, a custom console with a Hurst shifter, a digital gauge cluster, and upgraded Pioneer audio system. These elements combine to create a comfortable yet exhilarating driving experience. This restomod not only celebrates the history of the Dodge Demon but also showcases the incredible possibilities of blending classic aesthetics with modern performance technology. The result is a one-of-a-kind vehicle that offers both nostalgia and cutting-edge performance, making it a unique gem in the world of automotive restoration and customization.
