Charles sees rose named in his honour during Chelsea Flower Show tour
Beckham wore a King's Rose in his button hole, a new bloom bred by rose producer David Austin in support of the King's Foundation, when he met the King and his wife outside Charles' Highgrove pop-up shop with fellow foundation ambassador Alan Titchmarsh. The stick sported by the King was similar to ones he has used at country show grounds over the years and he leaned on it as he and the Queen went their separate ways for much of the visit. The King carried a shepherd's crook during his visit (Paul Grover/Daily Telegraph/PA) When Beckham met Camilla he said: 'Your Majesty, it's so nice to see you.' As she gestured at his buttonhole, he said: 'It's so beautiful, so beautiful, congratulations.' In footage of their meeting, Beckham appeared to thank the King for something, after the monarch asked: 'You got it, didn't you?' He replied: 'It was incredibly, thank you, it was very kind.' Camilla was heard to say 'Nice to see you again, glad you got the roses.' The Queen speaks with Chelsea Pensioners at the London Square Chelsea Pensioners Garden (Toby Melville/PA) The royal couple stood with the ambassadors as the Highgrove shopfront was ceremonially unveiled with the opening of a theatre-style pair of Sanderson-designed curtains, reflecting a partnership between the interior design house and the King's Foundation. The couple were given a tour of the shop by Scott Simpson, retail director at the King's Foundation, who said the King 'loved' the floral table cloth used for as part of a display and the 'God save the King' tableware set. Camilla enjoyed her time in the London Square Chelsea Pensioners Garden which will be moved a short distance into an open space used by the former servicemen and women at the end of the four-day flower show. Archie Ferguson, 87, a former Army cook, who became a pensioner three years, ago quipped 'don't get too comfortable' when the Queen sat down around a table which had cushions that matched the famous scarlet tunics of the elderly service personnel. The Queen joked as she looked at the group 'you'll blend in, we won't know you're here'. Charles pets Ned, the dog of broadcaster and gardening expert Monty Don (Toby Melville/PA) With her brief trip with the King to Canada coming up, she told the group before she left: 'I'm in Canada next week for a day and night.' Earlier, when the Queen saw the King's Rose creation, she told its creator David Austin its fragrance was 'absolutely delicious' and said 'It's so pretty, I can't wait to get some.' The Queen was joined by her daughter Laura Lopes, sister Annabel Elliot and the Queen's Companion the Marchioness of Lansdowne for her visit to the show. Also among the entourage were the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, David and Rose Hanbury. The Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Snowdon, Princess Beatrice and Princess Michael of Kent were also among showgoers at the preview evening for the show. The Duke of Edinburgh with BBC Radio presenter Jo Whiley at the BBC Radio 2 Dog Garden (Toby Melville/PA) The King and Queen began their visit to the show run by the Royal Horticultural Society by touring the BBC Radio 2 Dog Garden, designed by broadcaster and TV gardener Monty Don with dogs in mind. Featuring grass areas, a water feature for pets to enjoy and a large tree providing shade, the brick paths are inscribed with the names of beloved pets, including Don's dog Ned. The Queen patted Monty's dog Ned and the royal couple were shown bricks in the path engraved with the names of their own dogs – the King's Lagotto Romagnolo, Snuff, and the Queen's adopted Jack Russell terrier Bluebell and her new puppy Moley, along with Beth, another much-loved rescue dog who died last year. 'We have a scruffy lawn,' said the TV gardener, gesturing to the grass, adding 'lots of toys and we have a dog' as he looked at his pet. Following this week's show, the dog garden will be moved to Battersea Dog & Cats Home, of which Camilla is patron.

Queen seen with new pet dog ‘mischievous Moley' for first time after Camilla adopted rescue puppy from charity
QUEEN Camilla has shared a fresh gorgeous picture with her new pet dog Moley for the first time since adopting her from a rescue centre. The Queen got the "mischievous" pooch from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London around three months ago. 3 3 Camilla wanted another dog after her beloved Jack Russell Terrier Beth, who also came from the same charity, died aged 13 in November last year. Moley, now around 20 weeks old, has been seen for the first time after Camilla shared a cute snap of her alongside the pooch ahead of a visit by the royal to the Dog Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday. In the sweet picture, Camilla, donning a summery dress, can be seen holding Moley in her arms as she sits in a garden space. The post on The Royal Family's Instagram page was captioned: "Meet mischievous Moley, The Queen's new much-loved canine companion who was recently adopted from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, where Her Majesty is Patron. "Tomorrow, The Queen will visit The Royal Horticultural Society and BBC Radio 2 Dog Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show." Buckingham Palace also shared a second adorable picture of Moley standing tall on a wooden chair, with her ears perked up. The Queen had jokingly revealed in February, while on a visit to a museum in Canterbury, Kent, how she had chosen Moley's name. Speaking to a fellow dog owner, she said: 'I've just got a new puppy, she's eight weeks old.' When asked what breed Moley was, Camilla laughed: 'A bit of everything. 'It's a rescue dog. It's called Moley — it looks just like a mole.' King Charles and Camilla spotted in matching tartan outfits as they mark 20th wedding anniversary at church service Moley was born on Boxing Day to a Jack Russell mum and unknown dad at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. Camilla has served as a patron for the animal rescue charity since 2016, succeeding the late Queen Elizabeth II. In addition to adopting Beth and Moley, Camilla also adopted her Jack Russell Terrier Bluebell from the same charity in 2012. After Beth was put down last year, the King told TV star Amanda Holden at the Royal Variety Performance that they had planned to get a new dog. On Monday, the Queen will attend RHS Chelsea Flower Show and visit a special Dog Garden. In the Instagram post which shared Moley for the first time, the family explained: "The garden, designed with dogs in mind, features grass areas for dogs to enjoy and a large tree providing shade. "The brick paths are inscribed with the names of dogs belonging to Radio 2 presenters and RHS ambassadors, as well as Monty Don's beloved dog Ned, to reflect the special place dogs hold in the nation's hearts and gardens. "The names of The Queen's adopted Jack Russell Terrier, Bluebell and her new puppy, Moley will feature on the path, alongside that of her much loved dog Beth, who passed away last year. "The name of The King's dog, Snuff, is also included on the path. The Garden for Dogs will live on after RHS Chelsea, at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home."

Which comes as absolutely no surprise at all to legendary DJ Jo Whiley. 3 Jo has spoken candidly about how gardening has helped her mental health Credit: Getty 3 Jo with her two dogs Django and Brodie - and cat - in her garden Credit: instagram/jowhiley 3 Monty Don will be creating his first ever show garden at Chelsea Flower show with Ned Credit: PA She's joined forces with Monty Don for his first ever Show Garden at Chelsea Flower Show - along with 25,000 BBC Radio 2 listeners. Kicking off on Monday, the 'The RHS and Radio 2 Dog Garden' isn't the average outside space usually seen at the swanky show - where tickets regularly change hands for £137 a head. Instead it's a celebration of man's best friend. There's a normal lawn for the canines to roll on, a dog house with a battered old sofa, a stream for 'wallowing' - and it's filled with daisies, dandelions and clover. Plus there will be a TV screen showing all the Radio 2 listeners' dog photos that they sent in to Jo's evening radio show - after around 25,000 submitted pictures. Speaking exclusively to Sun Gardening, Jo said: 'My garden makes me happy when I'm sad, it gives me something to do when I'm really stressed and angry. 'And it brings me a lot of joy when I'm with my dogs in the garden. 'When my boss told me that Radio 2 were doing a garden at Chelsea with Monty Don - and they wanted me to be involved, I nearly fell off my chair. 'It's been so exciting to work alongside garden designer Jamie Butterworth as well - he's got such a great reputation, deservedly so. 'They're the dream team, they really are, Monty and Jamie. The Sun's Veronica Lorraine visits the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 'I went to Chelsea last week and saw the trees actually going in, and saw the dog house that had been built. "And then last night, they sent me some photographs with all the plants in, and it's mind-blowing. Honestly, the colour scheme, the tones, it's so beautiful.' The mum-of-four, 59, added: 'Growing up, my mum and my granddad were both into gardening, and then throughout my life I've been really heavily invested in every garden that I've had. 'I used to go to open gardens as my source of inspiration. I'd see what people were doing there, and I'd take photographs, and then I'd go and buy those plants and put them in my garden. 'But now there's these amazing, inspiring gardeners on Instagram, and you can learn so much. 'I think this is a really brilliant time to be able to get into gardening." Jo added: 'My garden is probably more cottage than anything. So it's quite big and blousy, and I've got very deep borders, so obviously I'm just constantly throwing plants and money at it all the time. 'Peonies are undoubtedly the most spectacular, beautiful things. 'But then I also really like the humble geranium, because they will give you so much colour for so much of the summer, and there are so many different varieties. I think they're fantastic, absolutely fantastic" You can currently get Geranium for just £3.99 from Gardening Express. She added: 'Penstemon are also really good because they last forever. 'But I'm also developing a Woodland area and I'm so enjoying that. I'm beginning to appreciate the different leaves and textures and the colors, like ferns and hellebores. 'Chelsea, I suppose, is the Glastonbury of the horticultural world, isn't it? It's the main event, where everyone really gets to show off all their talent and innovations. . 'It just feels like this amazing ceremony - a real celebration of gardening.' BBC Radio 2 wants a photo of your dog for its Chelsea Flower Show 2025 garden
On The Scott Mills Breakfast Show this morning, Jo Whiley joined Scott to launch Radio 2's Puploader as she revealed how the listeners and their four-legged friends can get involved with The RHS and Radio 2 Dog Garden, which was announced last October and will be unveiled at the world famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May. With the UK renowned as a nation of dog lovers and garden enthusiasts, the RHS and Radio 2 have joined forces with Monty Don who is designing his very first garden for The RHS Chelsea Flower Show. He has created it especially with man's best friend in mind, to lift people's spirits and celebrate our deep love of dogs and the gardens we share with them. A keen gardener, Jo joined Scott and together they announced the specially created Puploader, where Radio 2 listeners can upload a photo of their special doggy friend! A selection of these images will then be displayed in a special part of the Radio 2 Dog Garden. To share your dog pic with Radio 2's Puploader, go to and follow the instructions. In her evening show (Monday to Thursday, 7-9pm) Jo has also been encouraging listeners to suggest songs for a special doggy playlist which will play in a beautiful dog-themed house within The RHS and Radio 2 Dog Garden. Jo Whiley says: 'For the RHS and Radio 2 Dog Garden at Chelsea Flower Show, we will have a very special dog house for all your very special dogs. People will be able to walk around and look at the garden and see these beloved dogs, and we absolutely want the Radio 2 listeners' pups to be represented. So we'd love you to go to Puploader to send in a photograph of you and your dog so everybody can see them!' The RHS and Radio 2 Dog Garden hopes to inspire the millions of dog lovers in the UK to create their own green havens for them and their pets. Monty wants the garden to be both an exemplar of all the things that dogs love - regardless of horticultural fashion - and also a beautiful space that any dog owner would love. At the centre of the garden will be a neatly mown lawn which, whilst tended, is essential for canine sprawling, sleeping, rolling, flopping, itching and chasing balls, whilst a large tree will cast shade on the grass to stretch out under on a warm afternoon. The lawn will drift into longer grass planted with ornamental spring flowering bulbs to create more of a tameflower meadow than a wildflower meadow and brick paths will run straight creating vistas, with one providing the route through the garden for visitors and another at right angles to this leading to the summerhouse. The RHS and Radio 2 Dog Garden will live on after Chelsea Flower Show at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home for all the rescue dogs and the people who work and volunteer there to enjoy for generations to come. As Patron, Her Majesty The Queen's adopted Jack Russell Terriers, Beth and Bluebell, will feature on the path in the garden. SH8
