Dogs hunt for Easter eggs in Panama City Beach

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – After completing the beach cleanups earlier Saturday morning, dogs had the chance to search for treats in a truly unique Easter egg hunt. Panama City Beach Parks and Recreation hosted a dog beach Easter egg hunt at the Russell Fields City Pier. More than 50 dogs and their owners came to the beach. While on their leash, dogs searched for eggs filled with dog treats, squeaker balls, and dog toys. They hold tickets to gift baskets sponsored by Dog Training Elite, Paws and Paradise, Breeze Animal Hospital, Operation Spay Bay, and Barks Bass and Beyond. Event coordinators say the egg hunt brings together all dog lovers. 'Dog people are one in the same. They are very fun people. So it helps everybody come to the beach, have some Easter activities, and we very much enjoy it,' PCB facility and Special event coordinator Kylie Savage-Coffey said. Panama City Parks and Recreation will host another event for dogs in October called Paws in the Park. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – A bi-annual celebration of man's best friend is making its return to Panama City this weekend. On Saturday, April 12th, you are encouraged to bring your dogs out for an afternoon of fun at Academy Park in SweetBay for 'Bark in the Park.' There, you and your pup will get the opportunity to listen to live music, browse dog-themed goods at a pop-up market, have your photo taken together, and much more. BFF Animal Rescue will also be present during the event and will bring some dogs with them that are up for adoption. Panama City's annual baby shower provides resources for new parents Dog Training Elite hosts this event and originally hosted it as a way to raise money for local rescues, but the event quickly morphed into something other than just a fundraiser. 'The original thought was to try to help place these dogs, help raise money for these rescues,' said Dog Training Elite Owner Tina Ruffin. 'Then it has just morphed into something that's a lot of fun for everybody who has a dog.' This year, there will also be raffles taking place, with all the proceeds going to BFF Animal Rescue. 'Bark in the Park' will run from 3 to 7 p.m. and admission is free to anyone interested in going. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
