Hills veteran reveals 'very tough' endometriosis surgery that made her feel 'lonely'

Lo Bosworth opened up about having surgery for her endometriosis. The star of Laguna Beach and The Hills, 38, revealed she was suffering from the painful disease that affects women in March. 'It was a bigger surgery and a more complex recovery than I anticipated,' Bosworth admitted to People at the 13th Annual Endometriosis Foundation of America's Blossom Ball at The Pierre in New York City. 'I felt really isolated and lonely throughout my recovery." During her health crisis her fiancé Domenic 'Dom' Natale was recovering from jaw surgery that he had just a few weeks earlier. 'I had my fiancé taking care of me, but I hadn't really told many people beyond just my immediate circle,' she said. Bosworth had her procedure eight weeks after Natale underwent double-jaw surgery. However, there was a surprising side effect of the recurrent surgeries. 'We really formed such a strong unit. We've been through a lot, but he's the best. I couldn't ask for a better partner,' she said. Endometriosis 'is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus,' according to the World Health Organization. The organization estimated that approximately 190 million women have the disease worldwide. In March when Lo revealed she had endometriosis, she shared a short video explaining it as well as a lengthy caption. 'My diagnosis: endometriosis,' her caption began. 'And like many women who also suffer quietly from this incurable, chronic disease of pain, fatigue, fertility issues, and so much more... 'It took about a decade from first experiencing symptoms to finally undergoing laparoscopic surgery to confirm a diagnosis,' she continued. 'In today's free EVERYTHING IS WELLNESS newsletter I'm sharing my story, from symptoms to surgical diagnosis (link in bio, just use your email to sign up and read). ‌'My excision surgery has humbled me, the recovery much longer and more painful than I anticipated,' she wrote before saying she feels 'Grateful. Confused. Overwhelmed. Relieved. Validated. Scared. 'And … now recovering! I made this video almost a week ago, and I see a big difference in myself between that day and now. I'm less emotional, less ouchy, and determined to help spread the word. 'It was a bigger surgery and a more complex recovery than I anticipated,' Bosworth admitted to People at the 13th Annual Endometriosis Foundation of America's Blossom Ball ‌Bosworth added: 'Thank you so much for the endless messages over the past two weeks. 'I've burst into tears so many times reading them, feeling a deep connection to community I didn't know I had. 'I hope sharing my story can help you feel less alone, shed some light on symptoms you're dealing with yourself, or provide some guidance on what to do if you're a fellow #endowarrior.' Bosworth and Natale's surgeries come after the couple got engaged in January. Little is known about the pair's relationship, including how they met or when they started dating. Domenic's LinkedIn reveals that he went to Rutgers University for his bachelor's degree and was the football team's quarterback after transferring from Michigan State. He got his MBA at Fordham University with an emphasis on finance. Natalie works in finance and is currently the Senior Director, Orix Credit Opportunities at ORIX Corporation. His job description states: 'Invest Orix balance sheet and third-party capital into bespoke private credit deals. Focus on asset-based finance across several verticals including lender finance, specialty finance, esoteric ABS, equipment finance, core-plus infrastructure, etc.' Bosworth rose to fame alongside Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Kristin Cavallari, Stephen Colletti, Morgan Smith, Christina Sinclair, Trey Phillips and Dieter Schmitz. While speaking about The Hills last year while appearing on Just B with Bethenny Frankel, Bosworth admitted her relationships were 'challenged' on the show. 'We were very young women constantly put into compromised situations where we had to blood sport it out against each other to get through a day of production,' she said. Since leaving reality TV, she's been focused on her wellness company, Love Wellness, which creates supplements and other products for vaginal health. .
