Colona mayor removes council members from committee
Colona Mayor Don Ropp removed council member Sarah Lack and Amanda Stablein from the Economic Development Committee on Friday night during a special City Council meeting.
The women met with a mayoral candidate and a property owner in a public setting to discuss bringing business to the city.
The mayor says that gathering created a quorum of the Economic Development Committee and that they failed to take accurate notes at the meeting.
'To call this intentional, willful violation of OMA (Open Meetings Act) is not only a blatant lie and assumption, but it's accusatory and defamation of our integrity and character, which I will not stand for. I will not be bullied,' First Ward Ald. Stablein said during the City Council meeting.
The two council members and the mayor are up for re-election on Tuesday.
