Donald Trump Jnr says ‘maybe one day' he could run for US president

US President Donald Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jnr, said on Wednesday he could maybe run for president one day. Trump, 47, was asked by a moderator during an appearance on a panel in Qatar, if he would run and 'pick up the reins' after his father leaves office. 'So the answer is I don't know. Maybe one day, you know, that calling is there. I'll always be very active in terms of being a vocal proponent of these things,' he said, referring to the ideals of the 'Make America Great Again' movement his father has built. Donald Trump Jnr has emerged as a political force in his own right. Reuters reported in November that he was the most influential Trump family member in the transition as his father built his cabinet and prepared to return to the White House. The president, who fiercely prizes loyalty, has long relied on family members for political advice, but which relative has his ear is known to vary. Don Jnr, as the president's eldest son is known, helped cabinet contenders sink or rise to the fore – from championing now-US Vice-President J.D. Vance as Trump's running mate during the election campaign to blocking former secretary of state Mike Pompeo from joining the cabinet, sources have said.

Trump's son tells eastern Europe to shun China, pick US as trade partner

Donald Trump Jnr told a business forum in Budapest that Hungary and the region should pick the US over China as its economic partner, according to the Portfolio news website. Advertisement Trump Jnr, who's holding a roadshow headlined 'Trump Business Vision 2025', said China posed a bigger threat than Russia to the region, according to the business site, which helped organise the closed-door meeting late on Friday with Hungarian entrepreneurs. US President Donald Trump's eldest son, who's also an executive vice-president of the Trump Organization, hailed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's nationalist vision and underscored the close ties between the two countries' leaders, Portfolio reported. At the same time, his call to shun China is likely to sit uncomfortably in Hungary and other parts of eastern Europe, which have opened up their economies to investments from the Asian nation. 03:51 China and Hungary hail 'all-weather' partnership as Xi Jinping gets red carpet treatment in Budapest China and Hungary hail 'all-weather' partnership as Xi Jinping gets red carpet treatment in Budapest Orban has attracted billions of dollars of investments from China, including in the battery sector and the electric vehicle industry, with BYD Co. building a factory in Hungary's south. Trump in the rough over late golf returns

Newly filed paperwork revealing a compulsory strike-off notice has been issued against the firm, which is controlled by eldest son Donald Trump Jnr and directed by second son Eric, listed as 'Executive VP, The Trump Organisation'. The strike-off notice – a formal notification from Companies House to a company that it's at risk of being struck off – dated April 29, has been issued over an overdue confirmation statement which should have been filed by February 25. He may be nominally in charge of the world's largest economy – stock market crashes notwithstanding – but an update at Companies House reveals Donald Trump is failing to keep on top of the paperwork at Golf Recreation Scotland, through which he owns his course Trump Turnberry. Golf Recreation Scotland was set up in 2014 and returned a £3.8m pre-tax profit on £21.1m in sales in 2023. It is the parent company of SLC Turnberry and its activities are reported in its accounts as 'the operation of Trump Turnberry, a luxury golf resort in Ayrshire, Scotland, including hotel rooms, two championship golf courses, conference and meeting rooms, restaurants, retail and spa facility'. President Trump was a director between 2014 and 2017. The ultimate controlling party is registered in the 2023 accounts as The Donald J Trump Revocable Trust, a Florida state grantor trust (a trust where the person who creates it is treated as the owner of the trust's assets for tax purposes) registered in the US state which also owns a large stake in Trump Media – his social network, according to stock market filings in America. Any striking-off would put an end to one of Trump's keenest desires and something he has bent the ears of successive British prime ministers over – for the course to stage the Open for the first time since 2009. Trump has spent £200m upgrading the resort since buying it in 2014 but the R&A has repeatedly overlooked it, fearing its owner's antics would overshadow the event.
