Kansas City Streetcar temporarily suspending service for Riverfront Extension work
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Starting Monday, the Kansas City Streetcar is suspending service for two weeks. The temporary suspension is for continued work on the Riverfront Extension tracks.
KC Streetcar is actively working to connect the existing downtown line with the new Riverfront Extension.
For the next two weeks, constructors will be operating around the clock, including on the weekends, until all of the work is complete.
The work also brings a couple of closures to keep in mind.

Grand Boulevard is closed between 2nd and 3rd streets and westbound 3rd Street is closed between Oak Street and Grand Boulevard.
Constructors are also building a new northbound streetcar stop on Grand Boulevard.
Also, a dedicated streetcar link bus service will be used to maintain public transportation along the streetcar route.
Buses will pick up riders from most streetcar stops every 15 to 20 minutes.
'This is going to allow a direct connect between downtown and the Riverfront with efficient public transit,' said Donna Mandelbaum, with KC Streetcar Authority. 'Not just to see a KC Current game at CPKC stadium or to visit Bar-K, but it's also for all the residents that are currently living down there because there are at least 1,500 residents right now. This gives them a better connection to downtown using public transportation.'

Once work is finished, the streetcar team will test streetcars to ensure they're safe for passengers. Streetcar service should resume around Feb. 10.
