Police say sudden death of 32-year-old woman in Townsville not suspicious
Queensland police say the death of a woman whose body was found on a busy Townsville street is not suspicious.
A member of the public found the 32-year-old woman's body on an easement Railway Avenue before 10 o'clock on Friday morning.
An investigation was launched into what officers treated as an unexplained death, as well as a public appeal for information to anyone who had been in the area.
Railway Avenue between Doorey Street and Queens Road was closed on Friday and motorists were urged to avoid the area as investigators combed for evidence.
The woman's identity was established earlier this week and no details were released to the public apart from her age.
In a statement on Tuesday, police said that after "extensive investigations" her death had been deemed not suspicious.
Multiple areas of investigation had been established, but officers said on Monday it would be inappropriate to explain how they related to the death.
Detective Acting Inspector Phil Watts said earlier that the deceased woman's family was being supported during what was "clearly a difficult time".
He said support had also been offered to the member of the public who found the woman.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
