Groups to work together to boost tourism in Dorset

TWO tourism industry groups are to work together with the aim of further boosting visitors to the county. The Dorset Tourism Association and BCP's Destination Management Board said the partnership will drive 'sustainable' tourism growth. Through working together, the groups said they will align their strategies, resources and initiatives to maximise the potential. The partnership will focus on key areas such as visitor experience, destination marketing, sustainable tourism, industry support and connected communities. The partnership is set to launch with a series of joint initiatives, including a regional marketing campaign, industry workshops and sustainability-focused projects. Businesses and stakeholders across the tourism sector will be invited to contribute to shaping the future of the partnership. Key objectives of the partnership include: • Coordinated marketing and promotion: A joined-up approach to marketing campaigns that highlight the region's unique attractions, heritage and natural beauty. • Sustainable tourism development: Encouraging responsible tourism practices and supporting businesses in adopting sustainable initiatives. • Industry engagement and support: Providing a stronger voice for the tourism sector through shared advocacy efforts and business support programmes. • Data-driven insights: Sharing research and visitor data to better understand trends and inform future strategies. • Event and experience enhancement: Collaborating on major events and visitor experiences that boost year-round tourism and economic impact. • Connected communities: Strengthening community engagement to ensure tourism benefits local people and businesses alongside ensuring Dorset is connected as possible by it transport network. • Support of the LVEP supporting the bid for formation of Dorset Council's application for Local Visitor Economy Partnership status. David Bailey, chairman of the Dorset Tourism Association, said: 'This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for Dorset's tourism sector. 'By aligning our efforts with the BCP Destination Management Board, we can drive greater visibility and growth for our businesses, ensuring that Dorset remains a must-visit destination.' Andy Lennox, chairman of the Destination Management Board, added: 'Working collaboratively with the Dorset Tourism Association allows us to create a more joined-up approach to tourism management. 'By leveraging our strengths, we can enhance visitor experiences, support local businesses, and position our region as a leader in sustainable and high-quality tourism.'
