Mautz shuts out Tulsa, gets first AA win
Hello everyone, I'm Dan Lucy on the Ozarks First digital desk. The Springfield Cardinals continue their mastery of the Tulsa Drillers. In our Cardinals Nation update. Springfield shutout Tulsa 3-0 Wednesday, Leonardo Bernal provided the offense with a two run homer. And lefty Brycen Mautz shut down the Tulsa offense. The 23-year old from San Diego, California finally got his first Double AA victory. Mautz's win comes in his tenth start for Springfield. In the game, Mautz struck out nine Drillers in six innings of work. He gave up two hits and no runs, his earned run average is 3.18. The win was long in coming for the southpaw. Mautz went on the injured list in late May, but is back and healthy. And that showed Wednesday night against Tulsa. Springfield has four more games left in this series against Tulsa. And the Cards are 7-1 against the Drillers this season. For more sports watch Ozarks First news at nine and ten. And I'll see you then. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Springfield drills Tulsa to open long home stand
SPRINGFIELD, Mo–Springfield will play 12 home games over the next 13 days. And that will bring the first place Cardinals to the halfway point of the Texas League season. If Springfield can hold on, they'll win the first half North title. In our Cardinals Nation update, Springfield would get on the board in the second, scoreless when Chase Davis takes this deep to right, it just gets over the fence for a two run homer, it's 2-0 Springfield. The next batter is Joshua Baez, and he takes this the other way, over the fence in left, back to back jacks and it's 3-0 Cardinals. Hancel Rincon was called up to Double AA Monday, and Tuesday he strikes out Damon Keith in the fourth, Rincon went five innings with eight strikeouts, that ties his career high. Springfield lead 6-1 in the fifth when Baez would muscle up again, this time a drive to left, over the bullpen and gone, a two run shot, his second homer of the game, 8-1 Springfield. And the Cardinals beat Tulsa 8-3. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Rain threatens Springfield Cards season opener
SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Springfield Cardinals are scheduled to open the 2025 Texas League baseball season Friday night against Wichita. The question is will Mother Nature let the Double AA season begin. Rain and possible thunderstorms are in the forecast. The Springfield Cardinals have been in town since Sunday, getting ready for the season. They're supposed to play the first of a three game home stand against the Wind Surge. Springfield general manager Dan Reiter is an old hand at dealing with the weather. He says the team has been having internal discussions on possible changes to the plan. But as of now the game is on for 6:30 p.m. 'Really we have to see how it develops. Probably early afternoon Friday at the earliest just to make sure we're not cutting ourselves short. But we do know how many people have tickets. It's opening day. It's disheartening for everyone if you don't have opening day. But we still want to do what's right. And ultimately one of the requirements with Major League baseball is if you can play baseball, you do play baseball,' said Springfield General Manager Dan Reiter. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
