22-year-old man killed in head-on crash in Northern Miami Valley
A man is dead, and a woman is hospitalized after a local head-on crash Thursday afternoon. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Deputies and medics responded at 12:43 p.m. to Clover Four Road, east of Guadalupe Road, in Marion Township, on initial reports of a crash, according to Mercer County Sheriff Doug Timmerman. It hit a 2019 red Jeep SUV head-on, driven by Allison Bruggemen, 24, a preliminary investigation revealed. Medics transported her to Mercer Health. She was later taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. Pleiman was pronounced dead at the scene, Sheriff Timmerman said. This is the third deadly crash in Mercer County this year. Mercer sheriff cracks down on seat belts
May 19—CELINA — Mercer County Sheriff Doug Timmerman and his office will be participating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's national Click It or Ticket high-visibility enforcement effort through Saturday, May 31, according to a press release. During increased travel for the holiday weekend, Timmerman encouraged motorists to drive with seatbelts. The extra deputies will be assigned to specific areas throughout Mercer County for increased visibility, targeting seat-belt usage, but they will also be looking out for unsafe driving, drunk driving and distracted driving. The department will once again be participating in the St. Patrick's Day Blitz as part of a grant through the Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO), from March 14-17, he said. "We will have deputies assigned to specific areas around the county to have an increased traffic visibility. They will be looking for impaired, aggressive and criminal-based drivers, as well as distracted drivers and seat belt usage," Timmerman said.
