Mainland actor Guo Taiyu suddenly says bye bye to showbiz
27 Mar - Mainland actor Guo Taiyu recently surprised many by suddenly announcing that he is leaving showbiz.
On 25 March, the actor posted a long message on Weibo, saying that he has decided to retire from the industry at the age of 33.
"For the past ten years. I've lived thousands of lives using other people's names. I've been a king with blood on the tip of a knife, a general with the aura of a man who can swallow mountains and rivers, a brother who burns the sky and cracks the earth in the fantasy world, and that overbearing middle school president who makes girls scream, and so on and so forth..."
Said Guo, he has not taken on drama and film roles since 2023, and has instead been working in another industry that makes him happy.
"The spotlight in the entertainment industry makes me dizzy... When I took off my costumes and heavy makeup, I started my own clothing brand and invested in a western restaurant. The aroma of coffee at 10 am replaced the notices at 5 am; squatting in the park to watch ants moving was more fun than walking on the red carpet," he said.
Thanking his fans for their support, Guo said that he did not regret his decision, and that he has left the glamour of the industry early to become himself.
"Some people say that life is a movie. The first ten years between you and me were just a preview of my own feature film. Now it has just begun," he added.
Guo had appeared in nearly 30 TV series throughout his career, including "A Seven-Faced Man", "Douluo Continent", "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils" and "Youth Fight".
