Julianne Hough, 36, documents egg-freezing journey... as ex Brooks Laich prepares to become a dad
Julianne Hough is taking steps to become a mother. The Dancing With The Stars vet, 36, revealed that she's freezing her eggs in the hopes that down the road they can be fertilized and grow into her baby. She shared a look at the 10-day process in a video she shared on Instagram on June 7. 'Here we go,' Hough said in the video that she dubbed her 'egg freezing journey,' noting it was 'all in the name of having a little baby.' Throughout the video, the Kinrgy founder can be seen going to doctor's appointments as well as giving herself the injections that increase her chances of producing more eggs. As the week wore on, Julianne noted on day eight, 'Hormones were kicking in. My boobs are bigger. Everything is happening.' She shared more insight into her egg donation process in the caption of the video's post. First she thanked her doctor and the facility she's being treated at. 'I just want to take a moment to say thank you to Dr. Carolyn Alexander and the incredible team at SCRC,' her caption began. Julianne went on to share that she has endometriosis and between that and her own timeline for having children complicates her fertility journey. 'This is my third round of egg freezing and I know it's not always the most comfortable thing to talk about, let alone share publicly. But I've realized how important it is to open up about these things. She continued: 'Women all over the world are quietly walking into doctors' offices, making huge, brave decisions about their bodies and their futures. 'It's one of the most vulnerable experiences… physically, emotionally, and for sure hormonally,' she wrote. She went on to express that she hopes sharing her journey helps 'someone feel less alone, or inspires them to ask questions and explore what's right for them, then I feel like it's worth it. 'I truly couldn't be more grateful for this team who's been with me since my second endometriosis laparoscopy surgery back in 2017… they've been like family ever since.' Meanwhile, Julianne's ex-husband Brooks Laich is expecting his first child with his fiancée Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir. 'Our greatest blessing ✨ Baby Laich coming this fall. Mom & Dad can't wait to meet you, our little one!!!!!!' the couple wrote in their joint post on Instagram. In the comments, Julianne wrote, 'Congratulations you two on expanding your family - this baby is already so loved ✨.' Julianne was also among the first to congratulate the couple when they got engaged in December 2024. In a joint Instagram post, the lovebirds shared engagement photos and the caption, '12.16.24 ♾️ Forever feels just right with you!' The Dancing With The Stars host commented, 'Congratulations. I'm so happy for you both as you step into this beautiful new chapter together. Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and endless adventures! ❤️✨' Brooks replied with a friendly message that read, 'Thank you for the kinds words, much love Jules!' The exes were first romantically linked in 2013, married in Idaho in summer 2017, and were divorced by 2022. In September 2024 Hough shared how it felt to see Laich and Davíðsdóttir at a mutual friend's wedding. Appearing on the The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, she opened up to Lima about the experience, calling it 'beautiful' in a three-part interview. She recalled, 'It was so beautiful,' adding, 'I'm in this place where I now feel like I'm just beginning with so much wisdom, with so much insight, with so much compassion and so much empathy and understanding of what's possible.' Reflecting on her divorce, she described going from 'having the extreme of like, 'Will this ever end?' to 'Oh my gosh, like, I get to literally, design and create the life of my dreams.'' She continued, 'And know that every decision I'm going to make is going to be from here and that it still doesn't mean it's going to be this perfect life.'

Julianne Hough documents egg freezing process
Julianne Hough has undergone egg freezing treatment for the third time. The Dancing With the Stars co-presenter - who revealed in 2008 she has endometriosis, a condition where tissue grows outside of the womb lining - thinks it is important to be transparent about her fertility journey in the hope she can help other women. She wrote on Instagram: "I just want to take a moment to say thank you to Dr. Carolyn Alexander and the incredible team at SCRC. Navigating fertility is never simple, especially with endometriosis and my own personal timeline and hopes around having children… but with them, I've always felt safe, supported, and fully informed. "This is my third round of egg freezing and I know it's not always the most comfortable thing to talk about, let alone share publicly. But I've realized how important it is to open up about these things. Women all over the world are quietly walking into doctors' offices, making huge, brave decisions about their bodies and their futures. It's one of the most vulnerable experiences… physically, emotionally, and for sure hormonally. "If sharing just a small piece of my journey helps someone feel less alone, or inspires them to ask questions and explore what's right for them, then I feel like it's worth it. I truly couldn't be more grateful for this team who's been with me since my second endometriosis laparoscopy surgery back in 2017… they've been like family ever since [yellow heart emoji] (sic)" The 36-year-old dancer accompanied the post with a video documenting the process, which included her injecting her stomach to stimulate her folicles to produce more eggs, and also a "trigger shot" to release them. On the sixth day of the process, she said: "Just woke up, hormones are kicking in, my boobs are getting bigger, everything is happening." She also showed her bloated stomach, a side effect from the treatment. She said: "Look. It's like a little pregger belly. Cutie."

'We never actually tried to get pregnant. It was more of a precautionary measure: Let's do our due diligence for the future by freezing eggs.'
