Yash Jain tops NEET super speciality exam
Bhubaneswar: Dr Yash Jain from Kantabanji in Balangir district has made Odisha proud by securing an all India rank 1 in the NEET Super Speciality (NEET-SS) exam 2024, conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Jain scored 498 out of 600 marks.
The 27-year-old is the son of businessman Sunil Jain. After completing his MBBS, he pursued his postgraduate (PG) degree at Government Medical College, Nagpur. "It was my first attempt after completing PG. I will choose gastrointestinal (GI) surgery as my superspecialty, which will be a three-year course," said Jain.
Expressing his happiness, Jain said his family was overwhelmed with pride. "I never imagined I would top the exam. I was simultaneously caring for patients at Government Medical College, Nagpur, while preparing for NEET-SS. My seniors and teachers played a crucial role in guiding me," Jain added.
"If I get a chance to serve Odisha after completing my studies, I will definitely return," he said.

Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi, leader of opposition Naveen Patnaik, deputy chief ministers Pravati Parida and KV Singh Deo, Balangir MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, and several others congratulated Yash on his achievement.
Meanwhile, Dr Anurag Anupam, 33, who completed his PG from AIIMS Bhubaneswar in 2023, secured All India Rank 7 in NEET-SS 2024 in his second attempt, scoring 475 out of 600 marks. Currently working in a private medical college and hospital in Bhubaneswar, Anupam said he is interested in pursuing rheumatology and immunology, a superspecialty course with limited seats nationwide.
He completed his MBBS from MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, and PG from AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
The NEET-SS 2024 exam, held on March 29 and 30, serves as the single entrance test for admission to various DM, MCh, and DrNB Super Specialty courses across India. Results were announced on Saturday.
