2025 NFL Draft odds: The subtle hint on when Jaxson Dart, Shedeur Sanders will be picked

One of the main questions going into the 2025 NFL Draft surrounds how many quarterbacks will be picked in Round 1 on Thursday night. At first, it seemed like a given that at least two — Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders — would walk the stage at Lambeau Field in the first round. Jaxson Dart was initially seen as a 50-50 shot. The odds reflected that, with Over 2.5 quarterbacks taken sitting as a clear — but not heavy — favorite at -160 odds at BetMGM. At that point, the QB over/under prop felt like a stand-in for whether or not you thought Dart would be picked in Round 1 because it was thought to be a sure thing that Ward and Sanders would have their names called Thursday. Then, over the course of Draft Week, the hype surrounding Sanders began to cool, and there was talk that he could fall to the Steelers at No. 21, and if they passed on him, out of the first round entirely. There was also buzz that Dart would be picked ahead of Sanders, with the Ole Miss quarterback linked to the Saints and Giants. While that was happening, the odds on Sanders to go inside the top 10 began to drift, and so did the price on Over 2.5 quarterbacks taken in Round 1. It essentially became a coin flip by the end of the day on Wednesday. But now, there seems to be growing confidence in the betting market that both Sanders and Dart will be selected in Round 1. BetMGM now has Over 2.5 quarterbacks listed at -17 odds5, a 50-cent move from where it was yesterday afternoon. Over at bet365, the number has budged from -110 to -140. Those aren't massive shifts, but they are an indication that perhaps everyone was getting a little carried away with the idea that Sanders would tumble out of the first round. It seems like oddsmakers expect Jaxson Dart to be drafted in the first round. AP The days before the NFL Draft are peak silly season, and it's not a new phenomenon to see a prediction like that gain serious legs only to get quashed by cooler heads as we get closer and closer to the show. Time will tell if that's the case with the rise and fall of Sanders' draft stock. Report: Former Cowboys CB Stephon Gilmore spotted at team HQ just before pre-draft presser
Report: Former Cowboys CB Stephon Gilmore spotted at team HQ just before pre-draft presser Draft Week may have just seen its first big surprise in Dallas. As reporters assembled midday Tuesday at Cowboys headquarters for the team's annual pre-draft press conference, an unlikely figure was spotted on his way out. Adding to the intrigue, he's a decorated veteran free agent who's done a previous stint with the club and also just happens to play a position that's a current need. Five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore was back at The Star in Frisco, though it wasn't immediately clear why. And the front office offered no real scoop when asked about it a few minutes later. "We're always looking to make things better," Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said. "It doesn't always mean that if they're in the building that there's a deal in the works." Still, the timing is curious. And, knowing the Cowboys, almost certainly intentional. That meeting could have been scheduled at a time when the entire media pool wouldn't spot Gilmore. Gilmore could have easily been ushered out a side door. No, the Cowboys made sure the veteran free agent was seen exiting the complex. And they wanted to be asked about it in the pre-draft press conference. Sure, it's business as usual... but it's also a possible foreshadowing of how the team is thinking- and maybe even a little bit of a smokescreen- just days before the draft. For what it's worth, NFL insider Ian Rapoport posted on X shortly after the press conference that "the Cowboys are not signing Stephon Gilmore today." Gilmore spent the 2023 season as a Cowboy, starting all 17 games that year, picking off two throws and defending 13 passes. Originally thought to be the team's CB2 behind Trevon Diggs when Dallas traded for him in the spring, Gilmore's role increased significantly when Diggs was lost for the season to injury. But he was deemed expendable when Mike Zimmer took over the defense in 2024, and Gilmore signed a one-year deal with Minnesota. Last year with the Vikings, he started 15 games and recorded one interception. The No. 10 overall pick in 2012's draft out of South Carolina, Gilmore spent his first five seasons in Buffalo before going to New England, where he spent arguably his best four years. One-year stints in Carolina and Indianapolis followed before the Cowboys traded for him. Gilmore will turn 35 years old shortly after the 2025 season gets underway, but he could potentially provide experienced leadership for a young cornerback room in Dallas. Diggs is rehabbing from January knee surgery and may miss the start of the season, and Jourdan Lewis is now in Jacksonville. DaRon Bland returns, as does second-year man Caelen Carson, and the team traded for former first-round pick Kaiir Elam, but none of them is a two-time first-team All-Pro with a Super Bowl ring on his finger. Gilmore could be a more than serviceable short-term Band-Aid for the secondary while they await Diggs's return to action. Or his visit could be an attempt to deflect other teams' attention away from the Cowboys' true intentions in this weekend's draft. The Cowboys have met with several top cornerback prospects during this year's pre-draft process, including Benjamin Morrison (Notre Dame), Jahdae Barron (Texas), Maxwell Hairston (Kentucky), Trey Amos (Mississippi), and Shavon Revel (East Carolina). Michigan's Will Johnson, considered this year's top cornerback, has also been a popular target for Dallas in mock drafts. A reunion with Gilmore would almost certainly alter the Cowboys' draft strategy at the position. Follow Cowboys Wire on Facebook to join in on the conversation with fellow fans!

Wisconsin DOR agent solves property fraud case worth over $800k, restores inheritance to rightful owner
(WFRV)—The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) said that one of its Special Agents participated in an interstate investigation that resulted in a person's arrest for property fraud, with the rightful owner of the money getting their inheritance in the end. Special Agent Michael Austin with the DOR Office of Criminal Investigation was alerted by bank employees in Tennessee after a customer suspiciously deposited nearly $900,000 in unclaimed property checks. Appleton Police Department warns of increased scams during Draft Week Bankers placed a hold on the funds and contacted the DOR, leading to Special Agent Austin coordinating efforts with the bank that would have the customer claim the money in person and be arrested by local officials. This plan failed last second, and Special Agent Austin had to change gears; however, he told the suspect the money could be picked up at the Georgia DOR. The suspect was subsequently met by law enforcement, who were unsure if it was the person due to prior contact made only through a 'burner' phone. To ensure it was him, Special Agent Austin dialed the phone number he had previously spoken with, and the phone rang. The suspect was then arrested and identified as a former law school student serving parole time for multiple large financial crimes. United States Attorneys in Georgia prosecuted the suspect, who will serve 15 months in prison. Not only was an arrest made, but the true owner of the unclaimed property, a Wisconsin taxpayer, was found. The person who was the rightful owner was found through contact with five local law enforcement groups, the United States Postal Service and the Social Security Administration. The person who was given their rightful money expressed disbelief that he was found, especially considering he didn't know he had unclaimed money owed to him. The Wisconsin DOR expressed pride in Special Agent Austin, saying only somebody with his skills could've possibly done what he had. 160+ grams of meth laced with fentanyl seized during traffic stop in Wisconsin 'In this case, he was able to use his negotiation skills, quick thinking, intelligence, communication skills and charisma to locate the suspect and get the funds to the rightful owner,' Office of Criminal Investigation Director Justin Shemanski said.
