Aloha Ballroom Company celebrates with Dance Showcase feat. Sasha Colby
Honolulu, HI (KHON) – Aloha Ballroom Company, founded by choreographer Tony Meredith, is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a showcase at the Waikiki Beach Marriott on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at 7 p.m.
The event promises to be a night of inspiring performances, community connection, and unforgettable moments, headlined by Hawaii's own Sasha Colby, the winner of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15.
'This anniversary is a celebration of our students, our team, and the vibrant dance community we've built,' said Meredith. 'Dance has a way of bringing people together, and I'm so proud of how Aloha Ballroom has become a place where people connect, express themselves, and experience the joy of movement.'
The anniversary event will feature a mix of performances, including routines from Aloha Ballroom's students.
Following the student showcase, guests will be treated to a professional show featuring Sasha Colby, world champion ballroom dancers Yegor Novikov and Tatiana Novikova, and more.
For fans of Sasha Colby, a Meet & Greet will follow the performance, allowing them to meet the star in person.
Having Sasha Colby headline the anniversary event is a major highlight. The Hawaiian native, who made history as the winner of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15, is no stranger to the spotlight.
'Sasha is an absolute star and a proud representation of Hawaii's talent,' Meredith said.
'Her journey inspires so many, and when we reached out to her about celebrating this milestone with us, she was thrilled to join. Her performance will be electrifying, and having her here makes this anniversary truly unforgettable.'
Meredith, who has had a celebrated career as a world-renowned choreographer, is passionate about giving back to his roots.
A former Honolulu resident, Meredith's decision to bring Aloha Ballroom Company to the islands was inspired by his deep connection to Hawaii.
'Dance has always been about connection for me—whether it's connecting people to music, to each other, or to their own creativity,' said Meredith.
'I spent much of my childhood here in Hawaii, so coming back to the islands to establish Aloha Ballroom Company felt like a way to give back to the community and share the transformative power of dance.'
