OMAHA, Neb. (USD) — The South Dakota basketball team nearly completed a double-digit comeback over the Omaha Mavericks for the second time this season but fell short in a 93-85 defeat to the Forte scored a team high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting and had a pair of triples, his second straight game with multiple treys. VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) — The USD men claimed an 85-80 win over St. Thomas Wednesday, marking their second win over a top team in the Summit League this season. The Coyotes knocked off Omaha on January 29. The Mavericks were the top team in the conference at the time. USD trailed by two in the first half, but they flipped the script in the final 20 minutes, thanks to a 49 point second half. Eight players added to the balance of Wednesday's win, including four that scored in double figures. Chase Forte posted a season high 30 points on 10-18 shooting. (KCAU) – The home-court confidence continued for South Dakota men's basketball on Wednesday night, handing Omaha its first loss in Summit League play with a 91-87 win at the Coyote Sports Center. Dre Bullock and Isaac Bruns combined for 54 points to lead the Coyotes (4-4 Summit League, 13-10 overall). The duo each put up a career-high in points with 31 and 23 points, respectively. Marquel Sutton notched 29 points and 12 rebounds to lead Omaha (7-1 Summit League, 13-10 overall). USD improves to 11-1 at home, but will kick off a two-game road stand at Denver on February 6th. VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) — The USD men scored 54 second half points on Wednesday as the Coyotes handed Omaha their first conference loss, 91-87. The Coyotes are now 4-4 in Summit League play, while Omaha fell to 7-1. The first half was close until the Mavericks finished the half strong. Omaha built a 50-37 halftime lead. However, the Coyotes came out determined to close the gap. USD shot 63% in the second half from the field and 71% from beyond the arch to race back into the game. USD took the lead with a few minutes to play and they found a way to hold off Omaha. The Mavericks had a chance in the final minute to tie the game, but they missed three straight triples. Omaha shot 2-13 (15%) from three point land in the second half. Four players scored the majority of USD's points. Dre Bullock, Isaac Bruns, Chase Forte and Ashton Smith combined for 81 of the Coyotes' 91 points. Bullock posted a game high 31 points, while Isaac Bruns added 23.
