Bernal, Springfield stay hot; shutout Tulsa
SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Springfield Cardinals continued their current home stand against the Tulsa Drillers.
And coming into the action, Springfield was 6-1 against the Drillers.
In our Cardinals Nation update, Springfield was looking for its third straight victory.
And Brycen Mautz gets some defensive help in the first, J.J. Wetherholt flashing the leather at short, gets Kendall Simmons at first.
How about some offense, the hottest Cardinal, Leonardo Bernal takes this to right center, over the Cardinal Roofing sign and gone, a two run shot it's 2-0 Springfield.
The Cards try to get more in the second, R.J. Yeager singles to right, Trey Paige tries to advance to third, but he's thrown out.
Didn't bother Mautz, he would strike out Kole Myers looking, Mautz goes six innings with nine strikeouts.
He gets more insurance in the fourth, Paige singles to left, Joshua Baez scores to make it 3-0.
Mautz gets his first victory of the season, as Springfield shuts out the Drillers 3-0.
