Matteo Drobac Commits To Miami (Ohio)
Former Western Mustangs goaltender Matteo Drobac has committed to Miami (Ohio), it was confirmed earlier this week.
Drobac, who hails from Oakville, Ont., just fished his first season playing U Sports, collecting a record of 13-9-1 along with a 2.72 GAA and a .904 SP in 24 regular season appearances. In a further three playoff games with the Mustangs, Drobac went 1-2 while posting a 2.35 GAA and a .922 SP.
Drafted by the Hamilton Bulldogs in the sixth round of the 2019 OHL Priority Selection, Drobac would go on to spend parts of four seasons with the Bulldogs (three in Hamilton and one in Brantford), putting up a stat line of 66-37-11, a 3.30 GAA and a .890 SP.
Prior to making the jump to the OHL, Drobac played his minor hockey with the Oakville Rangers and the Halton Hurricanes.
With Drobac still only 21, he still has a long runway ahead of him at the collegiate level. Joining a RedHawks team that is bringing in some solid talent, Drobac stands to see time during his first season in the NCAA and could surprise some people.
