Bus driver detained after testing positive for morphine
KUALA LUMPUR: An express bus driver was detained today after testing positive for morphine.
The driver, in his 30s, was transporting passengers from Lumut to Kemaman when enforcement officers stopped him during a joint Road Transport Department operation at the Gombak enforcement station.
Kuala Lumpur RTD director Hamidi Adam confirmed that both the driver and his co-driver were tested, but only the driver's test returned positive.
"He has been detained by National Anti-Drug Agency personnel under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependants Act 1983," Hamidi told reporters.
"The co-driver was allowed to continue the journey."
