Local wrestlers set to compete in 2025 NCAA Championships
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (WTAJ) – While March Madness is already underway in basketball, March 'Matness' for wrestling kicks off on Thursday. Five Central Pennsylvania wrestlers are set to compete in the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships, which are held in Philadelphia.
The group is headlined by DuBois Area's Ed Scott, who was an All-American back in 2023. Scott, who wrestles at 157 pounds for NC State, will be making his fourth appearance in the NCAA Championships. Scott won back-to-back PIAA Championships as a Beaver.

Also qualifying in back-to-back years is Penns Valley alum Malachi DuVall. The George Mason wrestler will be competing at 184 lbs.
Chestnut Ridge's Justin McGill will also be in that bracket, making the NCAA Championships for the first time ever. McGill, who won a PIAA Championship in 2019, will also be closing out his college career for Edinboro this weekend.
Lastly, Bedford graduate Kaden Cassidy will also make his debut on the sport's biggest stage for George Mason. Cassidy, who will be wrestling at 149 lbs., was a PIAA State Champion back in 2020.
The first round of the tournament kicks off on Thursday at noon. The final round is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday.
