Dubai Strengthens Innovation Ties with Singapore at GITEX Asia
Dubai reinforced its position as a global tech hub by spotlighting its innovation ecosystem at the first GITEX Asia x AI Everything in Singapore, showcasing its growing synergy with one of Asia's leading digital economies. A high-profile Dubai delegation — including entities such as Dubai Internet City, DMCC, Emirates, and the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy — highlighted platforms designed to support startups and scale-ups eyeing international growth. The event served as a strategic bridge, underscoring deepening cross-border collaboration between the UAE and Singapore. According to FT FDI Markets, Singapore ranked among the top 10 sources of foreign direct investment into Dubai in 2024. The majority of Singaporean project announcements focused on Software and IT Services, followed by Food and Beverage and Financial Services. One key milestone was the entry of Singapore-based QuikBot Technologies into the Middle East through an agreement with the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority. The company will deploy its autonomous final-mile delivery service at Dubai Silicon Oasis. The partnership reflects a broader trend: Dubai and Singapore increasingly serve as gateways for businesses expanding into the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. The Dubai International Chamber's 2023 office opening in Singapore further supports this bilateral growth. The Dubai stand also highlighted tech career opportunities, with Emirates showcasing roles within its expanding digital teams. Mohamed Sharaf, COO of Investment Attraction at Dubai Economic Development Corporation, said the event reflected the UAE's D33 agenda to deepen innovation ties with fellow high-growth economies. 'Our ecosystems complement each other, enabling companies, investors, and talent to pursue global ambitions,' he said. With aligned strengths in innovation, business environment, and connectivity, Dubai and Singapore are poised to scale their collaboration in global tech entrepreneurship.
