A Landmark That Shaped Dubai's History
More than just a timekeeper, the Deira Clock Tower was the city's first major landmark, connecting Deira and Bur Dubai by road back in the early 1960s. It quickly became a symbol of the city's development and transformation.
Sheikha Latifa described the tower as a key part of Dubai's journey, stating that it holds a permanent place in the hearts of residents and visitors alike. For many, it's a nostalgic piece of the city's early days—one that has witnessed decades of change.
Refreshed But Not Forgotten
In 2023, Dubai Municipality completed a Dh10 million revamp of the Clock Tower Roundabout. The upgrade introduced a new water fountain, added green spaces, and created pedestrian-friendly walkways—all while keeping the structure's original charm intact.
Today, the Deira Clock Tower stands as a blend of Dubai's rich past and ever-evolving future, proving that even the oldest parts of the city can stay relevant in a fast-changing world.
