The post reads: "Solve the riddle: I am a 4-digit number.
"My 1st digit is of no use, as I remain the same without it. My 2nd and 3rd digits are mirror images.
"My 4th digit is half of the 2nd digit. What is it?"
Your task is to figure out what the four-digit number is. In many ways, the puzzle is less about mathematics and more about solving a clever riddle. The conundrum has sent the internet wild, with thousands fuming "I don't get it".

But if you're still crunching numbers in your head, the below could be a possible answer based on a general consensus in the comments. The answer could be 0884, but there are others saying it's 0000 or 0251.
Lots of people agreed with the poster, but not everyone was convinced. Someone fumed: "I don't get how people are saying 88 are mirror images, they are the same number."
Another chipped in: "If you get crafty, it could be 0000. Doesn't say the 2nd and 3rd and mirror images of themselves. Half of 0 is 0."
And someone else concurred, commenting: "Everyone is overthinking this! It's easy - 0000. And for those that want to argue… yes, half of 'nothing' is still 'nothing'".
However, someone else suggested: "0251 (mirror image, people. Not 'the same')." But people disagreed, with one replying: "8 is a mirror of 8," and another saying: "Five is not a mirror image of two".
Another user chimed in: "My first thought was 0693 but for 6 and 9 to be mirror images, one of them would have to be turned upside-down. The only other response would be 0884 so I'll stick with that."
Others said that 6 and 9 were not mirror images, but some disagreed. One woman said: "It doesn't say where the mirror is, so six and nine are actualy mirror images. 0693 would be my guess too."
