Darren Aronofsky Circling To Direct Netflix's ‘Cujo' Film Adaptation

Darren Aronofsky is circling to direct Netflix's Cujo film, based on the novel by Stephen King. Deadline first reported the news of the film adaptation , with Roy Lee (It, Salem's Lot) attached to produce in the deal made last week. More from Deadline Stephen King's 'Cujo' Still Has Bite; Netflix Sets Movie Deal For Classic Thriller Novel Duffer Bros. & Steven Spielberg's Amblin Adapting Stephen King's 'Talisman' As Netflix Series 'The Sex Lives of College Girls' Done At Max After 3 Seasons, Exploring New Home For Season 4 The 1981 novel was originally adapted into a thriller film in 1983 starring Dee Wallace as a mother protecting her son from a 200-pound St. Bernard that turned rabid after being bit by a bat. The formerly friendly hound transformed into one of cold calculation that left a trail of bodies in its wake. The climactic scene in that film took place when Wallace's mother and her son face the difficult decision of battling heatstroke in a car that won't start or confronting the big, rabid dog waiting for them outside the small vehicle. Aronofsky's more recent projects include Postcard from Earth (2023) and The Whale (2022) starring Brendan Fraser who won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as Charlie. The Whale also starred newly cast Spider-Man 4 star Sadie Sink. Arronofsky is also known for the Natalie Portman Oscar winning Black Swan (2010) and Requiem for a Dream (2000). King's short story The Monkey was just adapted into a film directed by Osgood Perkins and starring Theo James. Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games) is set to direct The Long Walk, and Edgar Wright's The Running Man feature starring Glen Powell will follow in the footsteps of Paul Michael Glaser's 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Conchita Alonso and Yaphet Kotto. The InSneider had the news about Aronofsky circling Cujo. The project is still in the early works at the streamer. Cujo grossed over $21M at the domestic box office, not reflecting inflation. Finn Wolfhard recalls his last day on 'Stranger Things' sets

Actor Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, has opened up about the emotional experience of wrapping up the show's final season. Wolfhard described the last day of shooting as "incredibly emotional", marking the end of a decade-long journey for the cast and crew, reported Variety. The 20-year-old actor reflected on the year-long shoot, comparing it to the filmmaking style of The Lord of the Rings. "It was incredibly emotional, obviously. It's the last 10 years of my life. Also for the creators, the Duffer Bros. started when they were 30 and now they are 40. Everyone had a long journey and shared it together. My whole childhood was there. It was sort of the Toy Story 3 moment of leaving your toys behind. It was really special." He continued, "We had a long last year. We shot sort of Lord of the Rings style with a year-long shoot. It was a great way to go out and very intense. I feel like it couldn't have ended better. [ The Legend of Ochi ] is the first movie that I've been promoting since, so it feels like post-graduation or something. I am excited for everything to come out." Finn's upcoming film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Sunday. The movie marks the directorial debut of Isaiah Saxon and utilises puppetry, animatronics, matte paintings, and 3D animation to narrate the story of a shy farm girl named Yuri, who lives in a remote village on the island of Carpathia. She was raised to fear an elusive animal species known as ochi. But when Yuri discovers a wounded baby ochi has been left behind, she escapes on a quest to bring him home, reports Variety. The cast also includes Helena Zengel, Emily Watson and Willem Dafoe. The makers of The Stranger Things announced the wrap of filming in December last year. The series co-creator Ross Duffer took to his Instagram handle to share his experience and the relations built between crew members. He told The Hollywood Reporter: "We've been telling this story for nearly a decade now. Many of our cast members joined us when they were kids, just ten or eleven years old. It wasn't just a show for them — it was a defining part of their childhood. They've grown up before our eyes, becoming more than actors — they've become family." He also talked about the crew members who played prominent roles in the making of the series. "But it's not just the cast we consider family. Our crew — many of whom have been with us from the very beginning — holds a special place in our hearts. Their dedication and passion have been the backbone of this journey," he added.

Finn Wolfhard ‘incredibly emotional' after wrapping final season of Stranger Things

Finn Wolfhard has said he is 'incredibly emotional' after wrapping production on the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. The Canadian actor, 22, has been playing Mike Wheeler on the hit Netflix sci-fi show since 2016. The final episodes were filmed in December, and are set to arrive on streaming later this year. At the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Ohio, to promote the fantasy film The Legend of Ochi, Wolfhard told Variety that his last day on the Stranger Things set was 'incredibly emotional, obviously.' 'It's the last 10 years of my life,' he continued. 'Also for the creators, the Duffer Bros. started when they were 30 and now they are 40. Everyone had a long journey and shared it together. My whole childhood was there. It was sort of the Toy Story 3 moment of leaving your toys behind. It was really special.' 'We had a long last year,' he continued. 'We shot sort of Lord of the Rings style with a year-long shoot. It was a great way to go out and very intense. I feel like it couldn't have ended better. [The Legend of Ochi] is the first movie that I'm promoting since, so it feels like post-graduation or something. I am excited for everything to come out.' Stranger Things, which follows a series of paranormal events taking place in an American town in the 1980s, has broken several streaming records for Netflix. Wolfhard's co-stars Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp have also reflected on the show coming to an end. In a tearful video posted to Instagram last December, Brown, who stars as psychic Eleven, said: 'Isn't graduation supposed to bring relief, like you're glad to leave behind the teachers and classmates? Not me. I am nowhere near ready to leave you guys. I love each and every one of you and I'll forever carry the memories and bonds we've created together as a family.' Schnapp — who plays timid Will Byers — made a separate farewell post on Instagram in December, writing: 'Two days ago, I wrapped my final scene as Will Byers, and I'm feeling very emotional. As I close this chapter of my life, I can't help but be forever grateful for the incredible people that I've met and valuable life/career lessons I learned through this decade journey.' Going on to call Stranger Things 'a lifelong dream,' he thanked creators Matt and Ross Duffer for 'taking a chance on me when I was just a 10-year-old kid and entrusting me with something so important to you both.' It was confirmed after the fourth season in 2022 that the final season would feature a one-year time jump in order to keep up with how quickly the show's stars are out-aging the characters they play.
