Clarke Elementary holds Science Night
HENDERSON — Clarke Elementary School held a Duke Energy Science Night on April 9. The Science Night programs are funded by the Duke Energy Foundation in April through the NC Science Festival.
The program is designed to help schools host a fun science event for their students and families with the use of a resource kit that includes hands-on activities that align with K-5 Science Standards. Now in its 14th year, the Duke Energy Foundation 2024-25 funding sponsors kits at 188 NC schools.
This year's activities included Easy as Pi, Build a Cell, Magnetic Painting, Create a Coaster, Straw Flutes, Ring Gliders, Galilean Cannon, Cosmic Coding, Garden in a Glove, and Build a Bubble.
'Duke Energy Science Night offers an exciting chance for students to explore science through interactive, hands-on experiences,' said Nicole Clarke, and educator at Clarke Elementary School.
'It encourages creativity, sparks curiosity and helps students make real-world connections with what they're learning. Both students and parents shared how much they enjoyed the event, especially the Magnetic Painting and straw flute activities, which students described as really cool and fun.'
