Beyond The Gates Recap: Nicole Tells Ted He Is a Liar And The Truth Ain't in Him

On today's Beyond The Gates recap: Anita and Vernon's Mansion: The Dupree family is stunned by Leslie's appearance. She can't believe she's in the room where the power players make their strategic decisions. Martin wants someone to call the police which leads Leslie to call him 'little brownie man.' (When I tell you I HOWLED!) Anita stops her by saying she should be concerned with what she has to say. Leslie wants to go but Anita says it would be rude to leave before revealing why she believed she had the nerve to darken their door. Martin loses his s*** saying she has messed with the wrong damn family. He goes on to remember how Leslie was the waitress who was so nice to him whilst infiltrating his family. She asks little brownie man if that's any way to talk to his Auntie Leslie. Vernon shuts everything down and Martin makes his exit. Naomi and Dani spit vitriol at Leslie when Anita stops them and reminds them of their manners. Anita and Vernon think it's time for Leslie to state her reason for being there. He thinks maybe she is seeking forgiveness. Leslie says that would be too much to ask but is only seeking understanding. Leslie gives credit to Anita and Vernon for carrying the torch of civil right but notes she should be considered along with King, Fauntroy and Angelou as she has suffered from what Ted did to her. Anita asks if she has any proof and Leslie pulls out the DNA proof of Eva's connection to Ted and the birth certificate with him as her father. She tells them to pay attention to the birthdate noting Eva and Kat were born within two weeks of each other. Anita asks what she wants and Leslie says she wants Eva to have a connection with her family and to be treated like a princess. Leslie looks at Anita and Dani and says she is a mother just like them. Her daughter matters to her and her baby is out there right now needing her mother. She doesn't want them to blame Eva for her vendetta. She explains how Eva never had access to anything they had and deserves the world. Leslie notes the Duprees consider themselves amazing people and says this is their chance to demonstrate their truth. With that, she bids them farewell. Before Leslie can leave, Anita stops her and says she needs to have her say. Anita goes IN on Leslie saying her speech was downright Shakespearean and the family has a good laugh. Anita says Leslie put Eva through hell only to serve her own agenda. She goes on to say Leslie filled Eva with her own hatred and then wielded her like a weapon. Anita thinks she was trying to secure her own space in society. Anita says what happened between her and Ted was in private but what Leslie did tonight was in public. Nicole and Ted's Place: Nicole tells Ted she doesn't know who he is. She wants the man she married back. Ted says he is the same man she married but she says everyday of their life has been a lie. She tells THEODORE (not using his government name!?!) he is a stranger who has been lying to her for over twenty years. All his lies did was delay her heartbreak. She wished he had revealed the truth all those years ago. It would have hurt but she would have been saved from being so smug and condescending about her relationship all these years. Nicole remembers how her body was betraying her as her husband was, as well. She wonders if Ted grieved her miscarriages from Leslie's bed. Ted says he confronted Leslie and never knew about Eva. She only wanted money (lies). He paid her and thought she would leave. Nicole lashes out saying Leslie nor Eva is the problem as Ted is the one who is at the center of the issue. Ted says he never loved her but before he can go forward Nicole says his actions have caused her and the family so much heartache. Further, he had the audacity to pull in Bill Hamilton to fix his mistakes. He trusted that bottom feeder more than his own wife. He had everything but it wasn't enough. Nicole asks if there were other women but stops him before he can answer. Ted says the two of them and their relationship is all that matters. Nicole can't imagine who this man is who stands before her. With that, she tells Ted it is time for him to go. He vows to find a way back for their marriage and makes his exit. Fairmont Country Club: Kat and Eva are discussing the events of the evening. Eva notes Kat never liked her. Kat says she is correct but that did no one any good as no one believed her. Eva wonders what made Kat suspicious. Kat says she tried too hard and is disgusted by Eva. Kat thinks she should have tried harder to convince her family and Eva surprises her when she agrees. Kat goes through how Eva planned the anniversary party and got them in the perfect place to give Leslie a venue to spew her poison. Eva notes Ted is her father and pulls out the DNA results to prove it. She says she tried so hard to stop what happened that evening. Kat notes her father did something horrifying and got a crazy woman pregnant with a curbside delivery daughter with half a brain (Sweet Heavenly Lord). That all resulted in a horror show at the anniversary party. Kat can't fathom how or why Eva thinks she should be forgiven for such tomfoolery. Eva once again says she tried to stop what happened but Kat thinks she is a toxic parasite. She tries to storm out when Eva stops her, saying there is more. Eva explains she grew up thinking her father hated her enough to know she existed and throw her away. She just now found out the truth. Kat says they clearly both had different fathers than they thought. Eva tries to explain the truth about how Leslie poisoned her mind against Ted. She says when she met Ted she was stunned to learn he wasn't a deadbeat. He was a great man who was funny and caring. Kat says her appearance changed everything about her father. Eva notes they had two different fathers. Kat agrees saying it's a reverse fairy tale. She thought her father was a good man but now believes he is a nightmare and Eva believes the opposite. Eva knows Kat is furious but begs her not to let what happened that evening destroy what she's always felt about her father. Kat says Eva is her mother's child. Eva lashes out and Kat notes that is exactly who she is. She could have stopped what Leslie did but chose to go forward with the humiliation. Kat says they are done and Eva is dead to her. As Kat exits, Eva breaks down in tears. Martin and Smitty's Condo: Martin arrives home (with the Tide box full in view) and flashes back to Leslie calling him 'little brownie man.' He finds a book on the shelf with an inscription from his father and throws it across the room. He throws all of the books across the room as Smitty arrives on the scene. Martin tells Smitty about Leslie showing up at the house and Smitty takes Martin into his arms. Smitty tells Martin he has a right to be angry and is not alone. They will work through this horrible issue together. Martin mentions the kids and Smitty says they will work together to make them safe and secure. Smitty says he loves Martin because he is stronger than anything that's ever tried to take them down (Get ready, Smitty!). Previous Beyond The Gates Recap: Endings Leslie leaves and Dani asks if anyone has heard from Nicole. They all note how devastated she must be and Anita mentions Martin. She calls on Vernon and he says they have raised children and groomed their entire family to have hope for the future. It's a long dark night for the Duprees but there is light at the end of the tunnel. With that, Anita hits the piano and begins a haunting version of 'Amazing Grace.' As she continues to sing, we go to Smitty and Martin's place as they put the books back on the shelf. Ted is freaking out at the hotel and Nicole is at the house clinging to a pillow. Kat walks in (where is Chelsea?) and pulls her mother into an embrace. Eva heads home but finds the chain lock on the door.
