PSP: Man wanted for high speed chase in Jefferson County arrested

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A man who police have been searching for, for nearly a month, has been apprehended. Dustin Douthit, 39, of Sykesville is facing 30 charges after he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase in Jefferson County, according to a criminal complaint. On March 13, troopers with Pennsylvania State Police were searching Sykesville Borough for Douthit after he was allegedly involved in an assault. Police on patrol spotted a red Hummer that Douthit had been driving earlier that day and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The Hummer accelerated and fled from officers by driving on a sidewalk. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: PSP: Wanted Jefferson County man involved in high speed chase Troopers noted that they had their emergency lights and sirens on as they continued to follow Douthit. He allegedly refused to pull over and fled at a high rate of speed. He also reached speeds up to 70 mph and drove through opposing lanes of traffic to avoid officers, according to the affidavit. Officers said Douthit drove through a yard before he stopped driving and ran on foot. Police said he went through a creek and onto private property before he lost officers. Douthit is in the Jefferson County Prison with bail set at $50,000 after he was arraigned on Tuesday, April 8. JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) is looking for a man who ran from troopers after a high-speed chase. On March 12, troopers were able to locate Dustin Douthit, 39, of Sykesville, who is wanted on charges related to a different incident. Douthit was seen driving his red Hummer H3, and when troopers conducted a traffic stop he allegedly drove away at a high rate of speed. During the chase, the Hummer became disabled and Douthit began running from PSP, with troopers unable to locate him in the surrounding area.
