Oneonta man facing several felony charges
ONEONTA, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An Oneonta man was taken into custody on March 26 following the execution of a search warrant at his residence.
New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations at Oneonta announced the arrest of 40-year-old Dustin Hummel following an investigation into sex crimes against children.
With the assistance of the Troop C Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, police found Hummel to be in possession of child pornography, suspected illegal illicit substances, and a defaced firearm and high-capacity magazines that are not New York State SAFE Act Compliant.
Hummel was charged with the following:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a Class A Felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B felony
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (defaced weapon), a Class D Felony
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (large capacity ammunition feeding device), a Class D Felony
Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E Felony
Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a Class E Felony
Hummel was processed and remanded to the Otsego County Jail with no bail.
