Bengals Rookie Competes With UFC Champion in Impressive Wrestling Video
Bengals Rookie Competes With UFC Champion in Impressive Wrestling Video originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Dylan Fairchild has a chance to be an immediate starter on the Cincinnati Bengals offensive line as a rookie this season. Advertisement Drafted in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Georgia product is expected to compete for the starting left guard spot with Cordell Volson, who was mentioned as a cut candidate if the Bengals prefer Fairchild and want to generate cap space. With training camp just a few weeks away, Fairchild has been putting in the world to improve his body and be in the best shape possible for camp. Some of those workouts have seen an unconventional approach. Over the weekend, Fairchild traded out the cleats to go barefoot in the octagon. Fairchild tested his wrestling skills face to face with UFC champion Sean Strickland in a workout session. The rookie (in the t-shirt) held his own and earned the respect of one of the best in the business. See for yourself: "The man can wrestle!" Strickland yelled after the scrum. Strickland holds a 29-7 UFC record and beat Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 in 2023 for the middleweight title belt. He currently ranks as the No. 2 middleweight fighter in the world. Advertisement Fairchild held his own thanks to his past experience on the mat. The 6-5, 320-pound lineman was a dominant high school wrestler, finishing his career with a 67-0 record. He won two heavyweight state titles and finished 22-0 as a senior at West Forsyth High School in Cumming, Georgia. Fairchild also played on both offensive and defensive lines in high school, earning four-star status as a football recruit. As a junior with the Bulldogs, Fairchild was a finalist for the Joe Moore Award given to the nation's top interior offensive lineman. Last season, he earned Second Team All-American honors. Fairchild's movement and dexterity was put on full display at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this spring, posting a ridiculous 96 athleticism score - the second-highest among all guards in the class. Advertisement The Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow are getting a world-class athlete in Fairchild at his size and strength. These traits grow the optimism that he will have great success anchoring the interior of Cincinnati's O-line for years to come. Bengals sign four of their six draft picks
The Bengals signed four of their six draft picks Thursday. The team announced that offensive guard Dylan Fairchild, linebacker Barrett Carter, offensive tackle Jalen Rivers and halfback Tahj Brooks are under contract. The Bengals made Fairchild a third-round pick (81st overall) out of Georgia. He played 34 games with 24 starts in four seasons, with each of his starts coming the past two years. He earned both second-team All-America and second-team All-Southeastern Conference honors in 2024 when he started all 14 games. Carter was selected in the fourth round (119th overall) out of Clemson. In 52 games, with 40 starts, over four seasons, he recorded 233 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, 24 passes defensed, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. He was voted a team captain for the 2024 season and garnered first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference and third-team All-America recognition. Rivers was taken in the fifth round (153rd overall) out of the University of Miami. He appeared in 39 career games with 30 starts, primarily lining up at left tackle. He was named second-team All-ACC in 2023, then received honorable mention in '24. Rivers started eight games at left tackle last season and blocked for an offense that led the nation both in yards per game (537.2) and points per game (43.9). Brooks was a sixth-round pick (193rd overall) out of Texas Tech. He played 56 games, with 34 starts, in five seasons and rushed 879 times for 4,557 yards and 45 touchdowns. He set Texas Tech career records for rushing attempts, yards and 100-yard games (23), while ranking third in school history in rushing touchdowns and total TDs (47). He was first-team All-Big 12 in 2023 and earned second-team honors in '24.

2025 NFL Draft: Identifying Bengals Best And Worst Draft Pick
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The 2025 NFL Draft is now behind us, with the final round coming to a close on Saturday. The Cincinnati Bengals had a nice hall, selecting six players that the team is definitely hoping can contribute right away. As was expected, the Bengals focused on the defense and offensive line over the weekend. CINCINNATI, OHIO - OCTOBER 27: Head coach Zac Taylor of the Cincinnati Bengals looks on in the second quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles at Paycor Stadium on October 27, 2024 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Taylor's wife has pleaded for fans to stop coming after her and her kids. More Photo byIn the first round, the team landed Texas A&M edge-rusher Shemar Stewart. Stewart is an elite athlete who tested off the charts and has everything teams look for in an edge-rusher prospect. Regardless of whether or not Trey Hendrickson is on the roster in 2025, Stewart should be a key piece of the defense. The next pick the Bengals made was linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr. in the second round. Knight is an off-ball linebacker who was a tackling machine in college and could be elite in run defense. Elsewhere, the team added offensive linemen Dylan Fairchild and Jalen Rivers, linebacker Barrett Carter, and running back Tahj Brooks. Now, let's identify the best and worst pick the team made over the weekend. Best: Round 3, Pick 81- Dylan Fairchild, OL, Georgia The best pick for the Bengals has to be the selection of Dylan Fairchild in the third round. Fairchild played 871 snaps at left guard for the Bulldogs in 2024 and earned a respectable 74.6 Pro Football Focus grade. The guard only allowed one sack against elite SEC competition and has the perfect frame and strength to be a solid NFL guard. The Bengals desperately needed to get better on the interior of the offensive line, and Fairchild helps accomplish that goal. With Cordell Volson and Cody Ford penciled in as the starting guards, there's a real shot Fairchild could start right away. Worst: Round 5, Pick 153- Jalen Rivers, OL, Miami The Bengals' worst pick was another offensive lineman. Most evaluators had Jalen Rivers as a late-round pick who will need a ton of developing before he's ready to play regularly in the NFL. The Bengals added Fairchild in the third, so adding another lineman while there were more pressing needs is strange, especially a raw lineman like Rivers. Entering the draft, the Bengals needed to add help in the secondary. The team chose not to draft a single corner or safety, which was strange to see. When the Bengals chose Rivers, talented defensive backs like Dante Trader Jr., Zah Frazier, and Denzel Burke were all still available and likely would've played larger roles during their rookie season than Rivers will.

10 Best available players for the Bengals entering Day 3
10 Best available players for the Bengals entering Day 3 Through three rounds of the draft, the Cincinnati Bengals have added EDGE Shemar Stewart, LB Demetrius Knight Jr. and OG Dylan Fairchild. The Bengals are currently scheduled to have three picks on the final day of the draft, Nos. 119, 153 and 193. With 102 players off the board, there are still plenty of good players waiting to hear their name called Saturday. The most prolific of those names, perhaps by far, is Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. A potential top-five pick at one point, Sanders has now seen five quarterbacks be taken ahead of him. Fortunately, the Bengals don't have to worry about that circus because they have no need to select Sanders. So who are some of the top players remaining, besides the quarterbacks? Here are some of the top names from the consensus big board built by Arif Hasan. Marcus Mbow, OL, Purdue Mbow has experience at both guard and tackle and had a nice week at the Senior Bowl. He does have a bit of a medical history, including a bad broken leg in 2023. Jack Sawyer, EDGE, Ohio State Sawyer made his case during the College Football Playoff with his scoop and score against Texas in the semifinals. He was in Dane Brugler's top 60 overall. Perhaps teams feel his lack of pass-rush arsenal isn't worth a higher pick. His wait shouldn't be too long Saturday. Bradyn Swinson, EDGE, LSU Swinson had a very productive season in 2024 with 8.5 sacks and 13 tackles for a loss but has plenty of developing to do. Teams also had to do some digging on him after having issues last season that included being suspended for the first quarter of the Florida game. Elic Ayomanor, WR, Stanford Ayomanor is arguably the best remaining "X" receiver after the expected receiver run on day 2 (ten receivers drafted). Solid production across two years at Stanford (averaged 900 yards and six touchdowns) but also had six drops in each of his two seasons played (redshirted in 2022). Jalen Royals, WR, Utah State Royals brings good size and speed and can help in the return game. A right foot injury limited him to seven games last season after a 15-touchdown season in 2023. He'll develop his route tree but has plenty of potential. RELATED: Instant analysis of Bengals picking Dylan Fairchild in the third round Dylan Sampson, RB, Tennessee Sampson was a huge reason Tennessee reached the College Football Playoffs last season, rushing for almost 1,500 yards (totaled over 1,600) and an incredible 22 touchdowns. He is fast and powerful. Dane Brugler compares his game to that of Titans RB Tony Pollard. Cam Skattebo, RB, Arizona State Skattebo was the rising star from the College Football Playoff and almost single-handedly helped Arizona State beat Texas. He finished second in rushing in the nation last season behind Ashton Jeanty. Skattebo was the lone Sun Devil at the Scouting Combine. Joshua Farmer, DT, Florida State Farmer is an explosive defensive tackle who can fill in as a 3-tech at the next level and worked hard to get himself into better shape and add weight and muscle. He can work into a rotation early on. Cameron Williams, OT, Texas Williams is very raw but also very young, giving him plenty of room and time to grow. Very good size at 6-6, 334 pounds. He does have some injury questions with his knee and has only played right tackle, so there is a good bit of projection here. Kyle Kennard, EDGE, South Carolina Kennard was one of the most productive and disruptive edge-rushers in the SEC last season. He had 11.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for a loss with three forced fumbles. Can still grow with getting pressure on the quarterback but can very well get after the quarterback at the next level. RELATED: Bengals receive extremely mixed grades for Shemar Stewart pick
