Dyson PencilVac Is A Super Skinny Sucker

The new Dyson PencilVac Dyson has officially unveiled its skinniest vacuum yet: the new PencilVac, which measures just 38mm in diameter. Looking more like a space-age broom than a vacuum cleaner, it's packed with a bunch of cutting-edge tech designed to make quick cleanups less of a hassle. That 38mm diameter puts it on a par, waistline-wise, with Dyson's Supersonic r hair dryer and it weighs less than 4lbs. That makes it the British motor specialist's lightest cordless cleaner to date. But don't let the size fool you; there's plenty of suction-smarts onboard. The PencilVac is driven by a new 28mm Hyperdymium motor that spins at a whopping 140,000RPM. That's enough to generate 55AW of suction, which Dyson pairs with a new dual-stage filtration system that captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. Its new Fluffycones (amazing dog/cat name, no?) cleaner head uses four counter-rotating conical brush bars - two in front, two behind - that help scoop up long hair before it tangles, and push dirt right out to the skirting boards. The Fluffycones are Dyson's evolution of the dual-brush design from the Omni-glide, which launched in 2021. There's a small LCD display on the handle and you can also sync it up with Dyson's app. It's the company's first cordless vac with MyDyson app connectivity, letting you check things like battery status, filter reminders, and maintenance steps on your phone. It lights the way (literally) with green LEDs on both ends, so you can spot dust whether you're pushing or pulling. Like the Omni-glide, the PencilVac isn't designed for carpets, and it doesn't convert into a handheld like some of Dyson's chunkier models. Battery life is capped at 30 minutes on low power, but the battery is swappable, so you can grab a spare if you want to clean longer. There's also a new air-compression dust bin that squeezes in more debris despite its smaller 0.08L size, and a 'syringe-style' no-touch emptying system that plunges out dust while wiping the shroud clean. Charging is handled by a magnetic floor dock, so the whole thing is grab-and-go ready. The Dyson PencilVac will land in the US and the UK in 2026; there's no word yet on pricing.
