The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary, Shahab Ali Shah, chaired a weekly review meeting to assess the progress of tasks assigned to various departments, with a particular focus on high-impact development projects and governance reforms. The meeting provided a comprehensive update on the status of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects. The meeting was informed that preparations are underway to organize a roadshow this week to promote the Thandiani Tourism Project. Updates were also shared regarding the Ghanool Integrated Tourism Zone project, Swat Motorway Phase-II, Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, and Daraban Economic Zone initiatives. The Chief Secretary underscored the importance of ensuring full financial allocations for projects nearing completion. He directed the concerned departments to prioritize funding for high-impact projects to ensure their timely completion and to maximize public benefit. He further emphasized the critical role of the project tracking sheet and instructed the Planning and Development Department to maintain its regular updates to facilitate informed decision-making. The meeting also discussed digital governance initiatives. A trial exercise for the e-office system is planned for this week, introducing functionalities such as e-summary processing, cabinet approvals, and diary and dispatch modules. These measures aim to enhance transparency, efficiency, and service delivery. Progress on the province's e-procurement portal, E-PADS, was also reviewed. It was reported that 175 tenders have been uploaded so far, and the technical bid opening process for the Northern Section of the Ring Road Missing Link Peshawar project has been successfully completed.

PHOTO: PID A Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) cell has been established in K-P's Planning and Development Department with a view to effectively coordinate on business-related activities in the province. This was briefed during a weekly review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah on Monday to assess progress of the tasks assigned to various departments in an effort to enhance governance. The SIFC cell would work in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Unit of the department. The meeting also discussed beautification of Peshawar. It was informed that feasibility study in this regard would be completed within three months. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Home), relevant secretaries, and officials, said a press statement issued. Updates on the PPP-mode projects in 11 sectors were also presented during the meeting. The Performance Management and Reforms Unit (PMRU) was directed to generate tasks and ensure effective tracking. A weekly update on the tasks will be presented to the chief secretary to monitor progress. During the meeting, officials informed the meeting that the Tracking Sheet System in the Planning and Development Department has been revived to monitor the progress of development projects, ensuring their timely and efficient completion. The chief secretary emphasized strict adherence to timelines for all public interest tasks and directed expedited approval of the remaining development schemes. A briefing was also presented on strengthening and restructuring the Performance Management and Reforms Unit. Additionally, an update on the Paperless Government System was shared, with MD K-P ITB outlining its implementation plan. The chief secretary instructed all departments to be fully prepared for system operationalisation by April 30, aiming to enhance e-governance, improve administrative efficiency, and ensure transparency in government operations. Furthermore, the meeting was informed that the E-Pak Acquisition and Disposal System (E-PADS) has been launched in eight provincial departments, including Public Health Engineering, Irrigation, Communications and Works, Local Government, Health, Science and Technology, K-P IT Board, and K-P EZDMC. A province-wide rollout is planned in the next phase, with all provincial departments mandated to conduct procurement through E-PADS from July 1, minimizing human intervention and reducing errors. Updates on the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) initiatives were also reviewed, including progress on the Northern Section of the Ring Road, completion of the New General Bus Terminal, and bottleneck clearance at Abdara and Tehkal Bala BRT Stations, which is 60 per cent complete.

A high-level meeting on e-procurement was held in Peshawar on Thursday under the chairmanship of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary, Shahab Ali Shah. During the meeting, officials from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Public Procurement Regulatory Authority briefed the Chief Secretary on the new electronic procurement system, E-Pak Acquisition and Disposal System (E-PADS). It was revealed during the meeting that, under the directives of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, preparations for the system's launch have been completed. On this occasion, the Chief Secretary directed that the E-PADS system should be fully prepared within a week and launched in the first week of March. The system will automate the procurement processes of major departments, including C&W, Irrigation, Local Government, and Public Health Engineering, among others. This initiative aims to significantly enhance transparency in public procurement. The E-PADS system will be linked with national institutions such as NADRA and FBR, ensuring a seamless and transparent procurement process for government purchases and contracts. The Chief Secretary emphasized that modern technology will be leveraged to improve governance and enhance transparency in public sector operations. He stated that this initiative marks a significant step by the government of K-P towards ensuring transparency in the utilization of public resources. The Chief Secretary chaired another comprehensive briefing on the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, focusing on key issues such as school infrastructure, teacher recruitment, student enrollment, and the challenge of out-of-school children.
